What a happy day - you look great!

Finally got around to opening a bank account yesterday - first foreign bank account ever! Biometrics on Friday this week... feels great to be doing something!

Remember to take your marriage certificate! Jason starts a new job down in the thick of Government Ville in DC on Monday which is mucho excitement but also providing a nice dose of stress trying to balance where to live/commute from without paying thru the roof for a 500sqft apartment!!!

I haven't got my name on a bank account yet but Jason got me a credit card joint to his account so I still build credit that way

We *still* have to file AOS. Tomorrow's Tom's day off though, and everything's pretty much ready to go, so we're gonna send it off by end of day tomorrow, I think.

My big gripe is with my cell phone provider in Canada... no matter how much we fight with them, they will NOT send me an unlock code so that I can use my stupid iPhone here in the US. I just finished writing an angry blog post about it LOL, and will probably go out tomorrow and just get myself an android. Blah.

A long time, a lot of waiting... lots of stress.... I feel for you both. We all know what that's like here. BUT...... now he can come and marry his lovely fiancée and all will be well. It's a funny thing Mary, it doesn't seem to matter how much angst was involved pre-immigration, we all seem to agree that once you're together it's so worth it

So we got a certified copy of the marriage license today, so just need to get together the AOS papers fast.

I got added to my husbands bank account today (joint account) and got a debit card. I already have my own bank account with my own debit card. I was approved for a secured credit card, 100 dollar deposit and 500 dollar limit! Great! feels like things is slowly starting to come together;)

Just got home from biometrics appointment in Nashville (we made an early weekend of it ), got there an hour early, they didn't care - we were in and out in 20 mins! Lots of fingerprinting, photo, electronic signature. And yes - they queried my name and asked for my marriage certificate so thanks for advance notice on that Sarah! Of course I took it

Hiya February filers! First of all, happy almost anniversary of all of us filing our K-1 applications! Things are great here with Rob and I. I love having him here, and we're in total wedding mode right now. Rob was not able to get his driver's license, because apparently Illinois requires immigrants to have work authorization to get one, so we're waiting on that. Other than that, all is well.

Anyway, my big question for tonight is how the heck are you guys filing your taxes? I've got my W-2's and started the process, and I'm pretty sure married filing jointly is the way to go, but I've read a few things about Rob possibly having to claim his UK income. Is this true? How are you guys doing it?

I think for us, Tom is filing single for 2012, and I'm not filing at all, because we didn't get married until Jan. 1, 2013. Curious to see how everyone else is doing it though!

I can't answer this one at the moment, Heather will be getting her taxes done at the university as they offer a free service. I'm really thinking about having my taxes done this year instead of doing it myself. I definitely don't want to mess with the IRS. The thing I'm wondering about is if you have to report your income from the UK, even though it shouldn't be taxed because of the treaty.

Well I had a weird dream last night which made me check my paperwork again for the I-102 (replacement of I-94) because the officer in trying to help us made a mess of things. anyways I went on USCIS site to check the status of my cases I-485, 765, 131, 102. The dates didn't jive as was shown to me in my dream. When I checked there a mistakes on receipt numbers. I called USCIS customer service to be nicely transferred to tier 2 where after 30 minutes of investigating it seems that when I sent in my paperwork for my AOS I of course had to provide proof that the I-120 had been filed. So now it seems they have 2 pending I-102 for me because the person who went through my packet didn't see the NOA1 for the first I-102. So now here I am waiting for a call from them to explain to me why??. Meanwhile I can't have a SSN until this I-94 is straightened away and of course the timeline has passed so not sure what will happen. Sheeeeesh can't one single part of this process go smoothly for us...?
