Don't panic. Go to the SSS website and try to register. Aydin's social security number might not be in the system yet, so you may have to do the paper form and send it via snail mail. It's better you realized it now rather than when Aydin is trying to apply for naturalization.

Any man who is between the ages of 18-26 has to apply for selective services. Basically, if a war breaks out that is big enough to require a draft, selective service goes into effect. If your fiance/husband came to the country and is older than 26, he shouldn't have to do it. Women are exempt. This only just came to my attention when Ermina mentioned it, but looking into it more on VJ, it sounds like if you fall into that age group, you need to apply. According to other VJer's, there is an option to apply when you apply for AOS. I don't remember this being an option when I was doing the AOS paperwork, and I heard from others that they were sometimes surprised to learn USCIS never registered them. Better to do it yourself, I think.

Speaking of AOS, I got the text/email confirmation saying our case has been transferred to the National Benefits Center. Is this the electronic version of the NOA1?

i applied today for him at the usps. i hope he can still get employment authorization. and doesnt get penalized. the paper said he can get up to 5 years in prison. etc... i was soooo mad at him. he didnt tell me. and he knewww!!!

Speaking of AOS, I got the text/email confirmation saying our case has been transferred to the National Benefits Center. Is this the electronic version of the NOA1?

How long does it take to get the AOS notification email once they have received the package? I'm sure the holidays have delayed mine, I'm just wondering. The post office confirmed delivery on Saturday morning, so I'm hoping to hear something by next week.

we sent ours off on Mon 17th Dec by overnight delivery, received 2 text messages Thursday night with receipt numbers, uploaded on to the system Friday morning. Hard copies came in the mail Mon 24th. I think at this time of year it's hard to say because mail is interrupted. Maybe we just got lucky - maybe Chicago just work faster than Vermont and ours slipped through.

Wow! That did take a long time! Congrats on finally getting it! I changed my name last week, and I'm still waiting for mine, but Rob's card got here fast.

Just a thought - since we are now married and I-485 filed, the departure date on my I-94 will come up late January. Do we just light a candle in its honour and generally ignore it?

My wife I-94 expiration date is January 2. Like you we will ignore it since I-485 has been filed. Let's see how long to get our bio appointment.

My papers were sent Dec 12, NOA1 came on the 17 in the mail, email and text on the 14 th, and last week I received my appt letter for bio on Jan 11. pretty quick i think.
