So, what happened Mary? How did it go?

*positive vibes*

So Julian was worried about time and having to go to Gould's since our interview was so early, and he was coming all the way from Banbury...SOOOOOOOO he didn't take his cell. I'm still waiting to hear from him as he said he'd probably be home around lunch my time.

Its. KILLING. ME!!! to wait. I'm just praying we either got approved or that they only need that one divorce document and that he's off trying to get that and get it back to them. I'll update everyone once I know, but here I sit!!!! blink.gifClockWatch2.gif

He will be fine, the interview time isn't the time he'll have the interview anyway. He'll be sitting in the waiting area before being called up to the first window, then maybe an hour wait for the interview.

I feel for you, at least for me when I called Heather I woke her up, so she didn't have to sit and clock watch.

So there I was this morning sitting in the restaurant enjoying some quiet time, knowing what was going to be happening in the next 36 hours, Glenn was still in the hotel room in the shower and the manager came to tell me I was wanted on the phone.. I thought WTH.. so a hobbled to the phone to find my brother in law on the line. I was obvious a little shaken by him finding me. I asked "what's up" feeling the horrible feeling in my stomach. He said the consulate called and and has to talk me before coming to pick up my visa... Can you even imagine what that does to a person. I had no paper to write the womens number on so onto my palm it went. I haven't had to do that since high school... sheeesh. I went back to the room and called Ophelia and what does she tell me?? Your visa is ready now if you can come asap just in case you could get an earlier flight. So off we went. Glenn ran up to pick up the packet and that all coveted passport WITH the visa... YEAH.. I now feel relief. Felt very teary at the moment. So mission accomplished and it feels awesome...thanks for all your support along the way..

hugs.

So tomorrow at 4 pm we will be married.

Help,

So in addition to a few paperwork issues (which is easy to take care of). The interview did not go that well. Julian felt that the moment he sat down before 1 question was asked that something wasn't right. We think it's because we only met on November of last year and I've visited once. We didn't have the funds for multiple visits so were trying wait it out. The CO actually wanted to know why we just didn't get married when he was here the first time. (As if trying to be responsible and get our own apt. etc. was a bad idea). They began to grill him and the CO didn't think we had a real relationship, brushed off our chats/ and emails/pictures and cards as simply not enough. We were not denied, but asked to show more proof from summer on. They gave him his passport and chest X-ray. Julian wants to come for Christmas, which we feel would give us more couple time and time to generate more proof. Can he get in this country now that we are in the middle of this? Or do we just need to send as much hard proof as we can and hope for the best. At this point, we just want to be in the same place.

Any help is appreciated cray5ol.gif

Mary, I am SO sorry!!

Gav is much more well-versed on the details of what's okay/not okay with the visa, but from what I understand, I think Julian can definitely travel to see you! He would just come on a tourist visa.

The challenge? How long is your NOA2 good for? I think the visa is supposed to be approved within 4 months of its issue. And that wouldn't allow a visit and then a return trip to finish applying.

Can he come for Thanksgiving? Can you head out there?

Wow sorry to hear that Mary. I think most of us didn't get to sit down for the interview, I did see a room off to the side for a seated interview. The questions sound a bit silly as you couldn't get married on that visit anyway! As for Julian coming over for Christmas I don't know. I would think it would be OK, he doesn't have the visa in his passport, he'll be entering on the visa waiver scheme I'm guessing. It might be worth a call to DOS to see what they say both on the visa status and what they require and on Julian coming for Christmas.

Again, so sorry for you.

Sorry, just another thought - It's also a good idea to talk to DOS because the US side approved the petition, they didn't give you an RFE for more evidence. So why did the embassy?

Heather is right on the NOA2, you can apply for an extension to it though. I'm not sure if you'd talk to the DOS, NVC or USCIS about an extension, but worth doing as your visa couldn't be approved before it expired.

Mary, I'm so sorry to hear this. It is heartbreaking, but as you said, it's not a denial so there is hope to turn around the decision. I think both Gavin and Heather gave you good advice, and the people from the London threads were also very helpful, so I don't have much to add. I think it's important that you contact the DOS about the life of your NOA2. I have a feeling that because you're at interview/AP stage, the 4 month window no longer applies, but it's worth double checking. Not that I would have wanted you to get an RFE from the USCIS, but it's a bit absurd that you waited so long for the NOA2, and after all that time, they couldn't just give you an RFE then and tell you what was missing so you wouldn't be dealing with it at the interview stage. Again, so sorry. We're here for you.
