Thanks Gavin! I think it will just be very nice to be past all this part and actually have him here!! So close! wub.gif

I second what Gavin says, it was clear that they were not expecting problems. Tell him to just answer the questions with a smile - they will expect him to be nervous so don't worry about it (I could almost hear myself babbling and apologised for it - I lost count how many times the officer said 'it's ok'!!

He WILL be fine - and when he comes out he will be thinking 'what a pleasant experience!' So be as anxious as you like Mary because there is a time limit on it and very soon you are going to feel ecstatic :D

So I had the interview today.

Left my electronic devices at home and could join a line with only one person in front of me.

First Window I had to hand over all paperwork except the evidence of relationship. 15 minutes later I was called for the interview:

officer: how are you doing?

Me: doing well, and how about you?

Officer: very well. How long do you know Kim?

Me: since February

Officer: can you place your finger on the scanner, thank you that was perfect. How long were you dating before you asked her to marry you?

Me: 5 months sir

Officer: you were married once before?

Me: indeed

Officer: why was Kim born in India

me: her parents worked there and in Ryaad for the consulate.

Officer: I figured, who lives in Northern Virginia and doesn't work for the government.

Me: you're familiar with the Northern Virginia area?

Officer: yes, I work for the government (smiles) Herndon is a great place to live, oh and by the way you're approved. We'll send your visa with a great pamphlet my college prepared to you within two weeks. Have a great day.

Sooooo... Lot of stress for nothing Haha.

What a lovely interview - Congratulations Michel and Kim... now we can go ahead and share a wedding date :D

You know? I wondered the same - they made a point of writing down the travel date I gave at interview so I know they are aware. Yes, the courier website updated this afternoon to say it was scheduled for tomorrow (I've only checked every hour for the last few days  ) and a text came soon afterwards. So hopefully tomorrow is the last day I will have to be up before 6am!!

Nice to see your updated photo :D

Excellent news :) I did the same checking the site, I think I knew a couple of hours before the text. I was nervous as it approached the pre delivery time and worried when it went over it! It's such a relief when you get it in your hand. By the way, the delivery guy asked for ID, I pulled out my driving license and before I could show him it he was off.

Yep, a new photo from the weekend. At the tailgate before the UVA football game, :( poor showing from UVA! Soon there will be a new photo from wedding 1 :D

Hahaha, that's awesome! Congratulations to you two! When will you POE?

KTand Tommy so sorry to hear about the added stress from your real estate agent. My jaw dropped several times as I was reading it. I hope it works out for you!

*siiiigh!* Thanks. I've just resigned myself to the fact that absolutely NOTHING will be easy about this process. Tom sent me an email last night, and in it he wrote something about the saying "that which doesn't kill us makes us stronger" and by the end of it, I'll be able to bench press a truck. Hehehe... I think he's right ;)

Help, I'm trying not to have a meltdown but Julian can't find his original divorce decree. If he can get one tomorrow, he will, but if not, what do we do? Show up to interview without and hope for the best? Will we be denied? Or just put in AP?

Oh no :/

I have no idea, honestly... Did you send a copy of it with any of your previous paperwork? Maybe they won't require it at the interview?

Good luck!

I've read some cases where people have had the interview and basically been approved, but need to supply additional paperwork. If this decree is asked for at the interview and he doesn't have it, I guess he'll be asked to supply it. This means that he'll have to arrange for the DX courier to pick up the packet with the decree in from him. DX will then deliver to the embassy and they will eventually process it and the visa and then send it out - he would have to pay DX at the interview for the delivery of the visa.

Make sure he gets a few certified copies as you may need it for AOS too - I've not read enough of AOS to know about that yet.

By the way, what was sent in with your original petition. Was the original sent with that? They might give it back to him at the interview if it was.

Thanks Gavin! No a copy was sent in the original petition. When I got home tonight, I found it in my stuff. I thought he had said that he had extra copies. He's asleep now, but I think he's going up to London tomorrow just to get another one. He arranged time off from work in the morning. it's not ideal, but at least we'll have it. Fingers crossed! blink.gif

Visa in hand!! :D

Mary - I'm sure he will be fine, worst case scenario, he will have to do as Gavin suggested and courier it in so they can release the visa - it shouldn't stop them making a decision as such :)

My update:

Julian could not get to London today, so I'm sending him a scanned copy of the divorce decree so that he can print it out in color. There is a little red crown stamp on the original. It may or may not suffice, but I suppose we'll have to see. I've heard both sides advice to go in/ to postpone, but since we are on fumes for cash and he's paid his trip already, we're going to go in and hope that it all works out. Thanks for all the positive vibes guys, I really appreciate it. I can't believe we have this happeneing right at the end huh2.gif

Sooooooooo happy !!!! :)

Congratulations!

So, what happened Mary? How did it go?

*positive vibes*
