I think that depends on the country that you're from... in Canada, my fiance doesn't have to come to my interview at all... we're planning on having him come up, but if he isn't able to, it doesn't mean I'll automatically be denied..

In Moldova I don't have to be present for the interview. In fact she doesn't even need a ring which surprised me.

I'd look up your embassy and try to find members who have already gone through the process there. They can help you with the interview questions best. Every embassy is different.

K1 Process -

1/30/12 - I-129F sent

2/2/12 - NOA1 Received (CSC)

2/3/12 - Visa App Fee Check Cashed

6/18/12 - NOA2 Email Received at 9PM MST

6/22/12 - NOA2 Letter Received in Mail

7/11/12 - NVC Received

7/13/12 - NVC Sent Case to Moldova Embassy

7/18/12 - Packet 3 dropped off to Embassy

7/19/12 - Packet 3 & 4 Instructions Received from Embassy

7/23/12 - Medical Exam Passed

7/27/12 - Interview

8/4/12 - POE Denver, CO

9/14/12 - Wedding #1 (Denver Courthouse)

9/17/12 - AOS/EAD sent

9/19/12 - AOS/EAD NOA1

10/23/12 - Biometrics

1/16/23 - AOS Interview

6/15/13 - Wedding #2 (Colorado)

yes, I agree that it's very embassy specific. In some countries USC are not even permitted, much less required to be present at interview.

It's definitely not required for me to be there, and apparently I will have to stay in a waiting area separate from the interview location. But I'm going. From what I have heard about others' experiences at that embassy, moral support and being on the premises could help our chances of approval, and will definitely help Aaron's frame of mind before and after, so for me, it's an easy decision. (That, and it will give us an opportunity to spend some more time together and take some new photos before the interview, plus we'll get to see each other a little before he actually arrives here.)

Joy (& Aaron, who doesn't read/post here yet)

Have you all started to gather documents for the interview? I would like to get as much as we can done now, just in case;) I have read a little about what we/I need, seems like my fiance needs to do some work

This is what I figured out so far:

Copy of the I-129 package and all original documents

Letter of intent (do we use the same as we did with the petitition? Just a little different wording.)

Tax return from 2011 (W-2?)

Paystubs

Letter from employer

Tax transcripts for 2009 and 2010.

Affidavit of support

Copy of NOA2 (oh I would like to get my hands on that!!)

Proof of ongoing relationship

Medical and police certificate (which I can't get before I have a letter from the embassy..)

Anything else??

I am a mid january filer. so i hope to have our petition approved by mid june and today is the 1st of June, so I need to start getting ready for what we need when the NOA2 arrives and I've been looking for it and today I found that you posted about it...My fiance and I had discussed it two days back but we didn't know what we needed but now I am going to tell him to get ready everything ready because we now have a few days to go...about 40 days slightly more or less...Thank you...As the days get closer I am both excited and scared at the same time but I pray for God's blessing in all this...

Joining this site was the best thing for this long and tiresome journey..this is what everyone going through this process needs, God and a support system like this one...and even after I am approved, I will still remain here.. to help others who come here because this is really good.

I just realized I didn't post about my trip to the airport on Saturday! Suffice it to say that I am now about a million times more impatient, and a million times more hopeful, all at the same time. :wow:

It was also sort of...surreal, in the sense that: one minute, it was clearly Before, and they were apart with everything still up in the air, and the next minute, it was After and he was here and suddenly physically present in the U.S. and in their shared life, and all that separated those two distinctly different entire phases of life was the opening of a door. Amazing.

(And the highly sought-after, long-awaited K-1 visa? REALLY doesn't look like much!)

--

Haha, Nick&Ann--you had me all excited and thinking it was June 1 already! Darn.

It's really amazing how something as simple as walking through a door can change your life. Glad everything went smoothly for them and that it gave you a little insight into how things work. I've found it makes me less impatient to think of things in terms of weeks, not days. Somehow makes it seem not so long.

LOL!!:yes: SO sorry everyone for that misleading date...I meant to write first of May but since i was thinking about June I wrote 1st june instead. Didn't mean to mislead anyone...So sorry. it was an honest mistake...

I am soooooo excited that I have about a month and a half to go but I am also soooooooooo worried about everything...it makes me anxious thinking about everything...

I wish it was the 1st of June though...my nerves would be all over the place...Lucky you Joy, atleast you have an idea of what it is like i guess, I can imagine how that couple felt after all the waiting and nerves...

I wonder what it will feel like.. :innocent: but I am more happy when i see an approval and people who actually make it to the POE...its like getting to the top of the mountain after a very long hike..i guess...
