Did everyone get vaccinations during medical exam for applying for fiance visa? I just want to know that I'm not the only one who got it. My fiance told me that for K-1 visa we don't need to have vaccine during medical exam, we can get it when applying for permanent residence after marriage. I just don't understand why the physician not tell me that it is optional, but they just put me through 3 shots and not even explain me what the vaccine are for and why I need them now. Everyone going for medical check-up experience the same thing?

It's optional at the K1 stage, but required for the change of status - so in the end there is no choice. I got all of mine before the medical, not for the K1, but in preparation for the change of status. We need our change of status to go through quickly, so rather than have delays for the vaccinations I got mine done. You don't need them for the K1, but it's beneficial to get them done early. It depends on what works out cheaper for you too. In the UK, most of mine were free. So it was also better for me to have them in the UK rather than go to the US and pay for them.

I took the same approach as Gavin but then at the medical discovered that I still needed a second MMR shot so got it there but was given the option of waiting until I got to the US. I just wanted that side of things all taken care of and one less thing still lingering for the AOS process and possibly more expense!

Oh, I didn't realize it was optional in some places... In Montreal the letter says we must have all our immunizations up to date.

I think it's one of those grey areas. I'm sure the doctors would more often than assume you'd want them as you'll need them and they get a little extra cash then too

So I called DOS and wahoo!!! Interview date is set! Checked with her to make sure I heard her correctly when she said 10/13, she assured me yes. Checked the calendar to plan, and whaaaaaaat? That's Saturday? Is that even possible? LOL! They just like to make this all as confusing as possible, don't they? Guess we will wait for the official letter and see what that says, but at least something is booked! Does that mean I have to apologize for all the moaning last week?

Hope everyone else who is waiting on this, that and the other thing gets it SOON! Heehee!

could just call and ask if they do interviews on Saturdays and then question your 10/13 date if she says no.

Getting vaccinations ready tomorrow and have the medical on Thursday. Starting to get nervous, I mean if all goes right I see my beloved in three weeks exactly!
