Ours stated exactly what they wanted, but it was for a divorce decree. They thought we sent the wrong one. From what I've seen it seems like they are fairly specific and give examples.

Yes it will tell you in detail what you need to send.

When responding to a Request for Evidence it is extremely important that you place the blue coversheet on the top of the response you send to them. The VSC receives thousands of pieces of correspondence each day, if the blue coversheet is not on the top of the response it will be placed in “general” correspondence and NOT sorted as a priority, which may delay your case.

It's been two weeks today since they received our RFE. I know it can take a long time so am trying to be patient, but for most RFEs the approval comes fast. I'm really cranky today and have been stalking USCIS's website. I just want to scream at someone. Then maybe I won't feel so frustrated

Did they acknowledge on the website that they received your RFE response? If they did and it was a simple RFE, you should get your approval anytime now.

They won't really give you much of a chance to say anything. Once you get connected to a live person, you'll start being asked questions, starting with your receipt #--if the person asks anything more than that, that means the NVC has your petition (they will ask for your and the beneficiary's names and DOBs if they have your petition). After they confirm all of that, they will tell you the case # and possibly let you know when it is being sent to the embassy. If not, you can call back a day or two later and ask for that information.

Yeah we're in response review. The thing that worries me is that I put in a service request on the same day because they misspelled my name. The woman assured me that it would not add time to our case, but I take anything USCIS tells me with a grain of salt. Think I'm just getting impatient watching everyone else get approved and have interviews and medicals and we're still sitting here. We really hope to have the NOA2 in time for Alan to bring to court next week as proof that we're only waiting on the government's permission to bring the kids to the USA.

Keep trying! They try to make you feel like a huge pain for asking, but don't let them worry you. That's their job, after all.
