Really? They must have it by tomorrow. I looked at the AOS stuff a couple of months ago, found some good videos on youtube for filling in some of the forms. I'll have to look them up again and post some links. Not too sound a bit girlie, but I'm really looking forward to my fiancee putting on my wedding ring. *cough* *cough* me man, strong :P

I just called the DOS to see if they could give me a different update and they told me the embassy have my medical :D

All, we finally got the interview date of Sept 27!!! Wish us luck. I want to thank you for all the support. For those of who are still waiting, keep your heads up and stay strong!!

Massive congratulations!!! That has become the goal for me and just can't see my life beyond it!!

I was pretty good at running numbers on a daily basis but, with a return to school and an NOA2 so the next part to prepare, there suddenly aren't enough hours in the day. I'm thinking of all of you who haven't yet had your approval - February is nearing completion so it just has to come soon for you. I hope so.

For everyone else at various stages of completion, let's hope things go smoothly for all of us and we achieve our end goal very soon. I just want to get married. Would like very much to be able to set a wedding date - I have 2 grown up kids who are waiting to make arrangements to fly out, a sister who is waiting to book leave, a wedding dress that arrived today, a headteacher who is desperately trying to find a replacement for me so that I don't have to serve my 3 months' notice and various other things to attend to... not least of which is an impending OFSTED inspection... Please God let me leave before OFSTED get here :D

After receiving the RFE, I kind of stayed away from the site. Today at exactly 4pm we finally received an update on our application. APPROVED!!!! Such a weight of our shoulders. Now we just need help from anyone willing to assist on what we need to do next. I know there is the guides and I have gone through them before and even following it, still ended up with a RFE. I would like to ensure the rest of the process goes better.

Thanks,

I teach English in high school, just hung my boots up as a head of year for the last 10 years too... it's something I could do in the States for sure but, you know? I'm kinda looking for a new challenge... I've been a middle leader for 12 years so I'm thinking I might look for a post in management but this is all wishful thinking. Whilst I would go crazy without work, I think at the end of the day I might take what I can get and be grateful :D

Teachers abroad huh? ;) Still, the kids I teach think I'm going on a massive adventure and I just might be...

What was your RFE about?

They wanted additional evidence that we met in the last two years prior to the date they received our application. I actually sent this the first time with flight confirmations, email conversations between the two of us confirming travel arrangements, and photos showing us together during that time frame both in Toronto and here in Atlanta. Apparently, that was not enough. So I sent additional pictures, emails, tickets from attractions we visited in both locations, and an affidavit from both my mother and sister confirming our relationship and us meeting prior to the date USCIS received our application. This seemed to satisfy their requirement and we finally got the approval.

This whole time it felt like we was holding our breath, and once we saw the approval we was able to breath air again. I know everyone on this site can share the same feeling.

They requested the same thing from me. However, I sent them 27 photos with date stamped on the front, they told me that they want me with my handwritting to write on the back of each photo the date and place. I did so and I also sent a copy of my passport along with Entry/Exit airport stamps at Cairo Airport. In addition, I sent a copy of my itinerary and my boarding passes. They updated my status from RFE to RFE Response Review on 9/12/12. Hopefully they'll be satisfied with this and get NOA2 soon.

Yeah, that was the other thing I sent, I also sent copies of passport pages with the stamp showing entry into Toronto. I did read the RFE letter over 100 times at it stated that at a minimum it would take 14 days to process. So not including the recent holiday it took us about 12 days after getting the update that it was received by them. I have looked at other timelines at that seems to be the average time to get a response. Good Luck on your journey. I am sure it will get approved.

It sounds confusing but, as others have said, I'm pretty sure that all petitions go through NVC simply because they need to be assigned a consulate case number and they don't do that at Vermont
