Just called the NVC and they already have our application! I can't believe it! It's been exactly a week! The lady I spoke to was very nice, said that they needed to work on it before it's sent out to the embassy, but that it should probably be done by Monday.

Can I ask you guys - I saw some people looking at DHL numbers and their estimated arrivals? How did you guys do that? Where do I go to find those?

OMG the RFE is for his decree absolute on his divorce. We sent the absolute and not the nisi so I don't know what they want...

I don't know much about divorce decrees, but I would resubmit whatever you have, and perhaps start a topic in the main VJ forum about it. I'm guessing that's a pretty common RFE.

Thanks guys! I found that thread after posting here in my initial panic. I've taken the letter that someone submitted and am modifying it to our situation. I will submit that letter along with the copy of the decree on A4 paper with the appropriate areas highlighted. I don't think the stamp from the courts came out well on my copies. I'll head to staples and try to make a better one to send off. Hopefully that will work and we'll get a quick reply. Guess they didn't notice the photocopied signatures on the letters/forms cause this was my only RFE LOL

Called VSC this morning and same old tired line, "we're working on Feb 6th" I am at 6 1/2 months now and nothing but wait and wait. I asked to file a service request and was told that she would like to but is not able to do that because we are not 30 days past my date 27 Feb. When they are working on 27 Mar then I can file a service request. What a crock of b@*&^!!!!

I honestly think they make up the rules as they go along. But don't worry, I'm sure your approval is coming soon and you won't need a service request!!

Well, I just got off the phone with USCIS and was told that they are working on Feb 27 so that they WILL be able to put in a service request because the petition is outside of the normal processing time.

Although I'm not sure how much help the service request will be but hopefully it will get things moving maybe????? I just hope that after 209 days of waiting I pray they there won't be a RFE.

I think we got our NOA2 same day as you did, we've just spoken to the NVC too, they received our case today and have a LND number assigned already Going to have a think about when to book the medical for now Can't believe how quickly things can move given that we just waited for more than 6 months!!!

We called a couple of weeks ago and got the same tale... so we asked to speak to a supervisor who put us through to an officer... who put in a service request for us because he could override the system. We had a NOA2 a week later. Hard to know if it's connected but worth a try maybe

My package has been received at Montreal (as of last Thursday or Friday, I think) ... they're just REALLY slow at logging and sending out Packet 3 Tom's gonna call again today and see if Packet 3 has been sent out yet...

We actually aren't planning on sending back Packet 3 until next week anyway (Tom has his affidavit of support backup and letter of intent that he's just going to bring with him on the plane on Thursday, instead of fedex-ing it to me) so hopefully it's sent out by then, so that we can ship out our paperwork on Thursday as soon as he gets here!

Also, I understood that you only have to send in the ds forms after receiving packet 3 and bring the evidence and additional forms to the interview. Or is this different per Consulate?

Hmm, I know Montreal is slightly different than the other consulates... what they're asking me for in Packet 3 is:

DS-230 part I

DS-156 – 2 copies

DS-156K

Confirmation receipt regarding Form DS-160

checklist of documents to gather for the interview

2 color photographs

Photocopy of the biographic data page of the applicant’s passport

Everything else (including the I-134 and those docs) gets brought to the interview, I just have to check them off to say that I have them... So I guess I could probably just submit all the packet 3 stuff before he gets here, since I know I will have all the documents for the I-134 in a week.

But now I'm confused if I can just send all that stuff out, without them saying that they've sent Packet 3 to me, and just attach my MTL # to it, so that they know what package it goes with? That would probably make it go a little bit quicker. I read in another thread that someone booked their interview in Montreal yesterday for November 19... and I really don't want to let it go too late... I really want to be in Florida for Christmas, and not have to drive through a snowstorm in a u-haul - so the earlier I can go down in the winter, the better!
