I'm an actress and a producer so I'm dumping all my energy into saving money, creating, building my company, hobbies etc.

Hey Mary! We're in a similar field :) I'm a production coordinator in Toronto. No idea what I'll do when I get to Florida though... I don't think they have a huge TV (or movie) industry out there... my old goal was to be a producer... but oh my, how things change once you fall in love!

Hello Sophie0129. I am glad to see someone from Germany, I love that country and I love the language. That is what I occupy most of my free time with - learning German. The most wonderful language there is :) I even taught Aaron a few words :)

Aw thank u. That's nice from u! Yes Germany is absolutely beautiful!

Do u have any difficulties learning German though? I know for a lot of people, especially Americans, the pronunciation and the grammar is pretty tough.

Whoa. There was an approval on Friday at VSC of someone (from the Philippines) who sent the petition on the same exact day that I did. Lucky ducks.

Hi Everyone,

I have a question about visa fees and taxes. Does anyone know if visa fees (and other associated expenses) are tax deductible? Just thought I'd ask in case anyone knows offhand...these fees can really add up so I plan to do some research on this. I would also be curious to know if I might be able to claim my fiance as a dependent before we are married? I have a feeling that this is a no, since claiming a dependent is usually based on time spent in a household over a 12-month period...but I do plan to look into this to be sure. If anyone has already done the research or knows the answers to these questions, please let me know. Thanks!

I'm not sure so please correct me if I'm wrong, but I know that to claim a child as a dependent they have to live with you for more than six months/half the year. So my guess is you can't...

Wow, been gone 2 weeks and there's 3 pages of posts to catch up on :) Alan and his boys visited for the first 2 weeks of April. That time just flew by and I hated to send them back. I know time will go back to crawling by now that they're gone. This will most likely be the last time I see them until I head over for their move to the states. I just keep telling myself that he's got to go back to England to get things settled over there. Can't sell a house overnight. While he was here, we picked a cake and wedding venue. We're so excited to have found places who were more than happy to work with us telling them we have no idea when we're having the wedding. Looks like we might actually be able to pull off the wedding we want with 3-4 months notice so we're doing the happy dance  Now for the dreaded wedding dress shopping *eek* I'm now regretting all the yummy food we had while he was here LOL.

In everyone's life, at some time, our inner fire goes out. It is then burst into flame by an encounter with another human being. We should all be thankful for those people who rekindle the inner spirit.

Initially filed for K1 visa - Feb 23 2012

Due to circumstances beyond our control, we've abandoned this application

We married on Aug 24, 2013 in a small ceremony in MA

We'll be applying for a CR1 / IR1 visa as soon as we are able

Watch this space for updates!

Welcome back, Darkmoonfaerie, and glad you had a nice time!

The timeline adjudication estimates and processing dates are zooming forward lately! I know we shouldn't read any more into this than the slowdown before, but I can't help but find it encouraging nonetheless! CSC is late November and VSC is even saying December now!
