It seems filing a service request generates the response that the petition will be processed with the next 60 days. It seems like the app would surely be processed in that time anyway. It's ridiculous that people at the same service center have waited as little as 3.5 months and they'd tell me I may have to wait for 8.

NOA1: February 6, 2012

So, do you guys think submitting a service request actually helps?

Absolutly NOT, it dosent do anything, people who are allowed to do service request are already near getting them without requesting one, so it look like it helps but its just a coincidence. Unless you pass 8 months then yes, you should ask for a service request and a expedite.

Thanks. I thought so!

The whole idea of having to put in a "service request" is absurd, anyway. I "requested" your services when I filed the damn application. And you agreed to provide that service when you cashed my check! (They sure get that step completed quickly, don't they?)

6 is the new 5 for VSC ......

Someone needs to go teach them their numbers. 1+1+1+1+1= 5

Not 6

You cant say 5 but mean 6

Just say 6. Then we'll know what we are dealing with.

I am talking about months.

.....I might be slowly going insane or as my fiance would put it, "mental".

To bring it into perspective today, I had to get on my phone to call my girlfriend today and tell her what happened in our movie theatre in Colorado. Aurora is about 20 minutes from my house, and I had to go to the doctor this morning who is 5 minutes away from where the shooting happened. She's probably scared as hell to come here now. She was already a little nervous but this can't help.

No matter where you are in the NOA2 process, it's likely that you're going to see your loved one at some point. Just be thankful you have that person in your life, and thankful that they are willing to wait this out to be with you. It's a huge sacrifice on both of your parts and honestly if it's meant to be then it will be. Also please understand that the law enforcement and immigration folks in this country (and abroad) have an incredibly difficult job of protecting us all. They're doing their best.

Yup service requests are useless. They are an imaginary way for USCIS to dupe us into thinking we've actually done something to facilitate the approval of the petition. They'll get to it when they get to it..Only thing that has worked for some people is Congressional or Senatorial inquiries and even they have limited levels of effectiveness. It depends on how familiar your representatives are with their options to help you..
