Severe arm bruising a week after medical

My fiancee is in Manila now... she passed her medical last Monday/Tuesday and is awaiting her interview on Tuesday. But, the nurse caused her problems by extracting blood. It took her several tries. Her arm is severely bruised and the bruises are getting worse. Her arm is in pain and she can't move it. I have never heard of anything like this before. I've been trying to convince her to see a doctor but she's scared to go anywhere in Manila. I can't think of what this could be caused by, and we're worried it is serious. The nurse would seem to be incompetent. Bruises fade and get not painful over time, not the opposite.

Anyone else have this problem or any thoughts on what is going on?

I'm no doctor but I'd say she needs to get to the emergency room ASAP! Might be a ruptured or torn vein in the arm who knows but tell her to get her butt there if it's getting worse. Dr's Hospital is good or any one with an emergency room!!

Her arm is severely bruised and the bruises are getting worse. Her arm is in pain and she can't move it. I can't think of what this could be caused by, and we're worried it is serious.

Can she wait until morning? Its not as if her arm is puffing up from blood filling it up outside the vein, but the bruises are getting worse and painful.

Dr's Hospital in Map to Dr's Hospital is right down from the US Embassy if she's close. I went there with a ruptured ear drum and they hooked me up. Tell her not to worry about the expense, a funeral is more expensive.

She's in Paranaque which I think is about 3 miles from that hospital... so a few hours in the traffic. (Took me 3 hours to go that distance at 1am Sunday last time I was there.)

I'm suggesting that hospital to her, thanks for the tip.

Bruising after having blood drawn is not terribly uncommon. Sometimes a person's anatomy is at fault, sometimes the person taking the blood is inept. Either way, after a week the bruises should be starting to fade and turn yellow. It shouldn't be getting worse this long out.

Do what you can to convince her to go and see a doctor. If the needle stick was very deep, she might have had a nerve damaged or injured.

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

Just have her go to the Hospital as soon as she can. its 2:30AM in the philippines now! Good Luck!:thumbs:
