I just saw the post saying that you're reading this book. Funny, I just picked it up myself about a week ago, but I haven't started reading it yet. I'm currently reading the updated "More Bad News from Israel" by Glascow University Media Group members Greg Philo and Mike Berry. It's about how the media covers the conflict, the differences in the ways Israelis and Palestinians are represented, and how the biases in coverage affects the public's view of the Arab-Israel conflict.

I hope you'll check it out.

Let me know what you think. I like the book very much. I like how learning about the Politicos acted and the things they said that never made it to the outside. Of course you are probably way more in the know about this stuff but for me just learning it is an eye opener. Everything happening now was set in stone from the beginning.

I will seek out that book. I am finally running out of books and will need to replenish the stock. I just read a book recently about a long time reporter and his 10 years covering Israel It was an eye opener also. The chapter where there were so many reporters covering the final Lebanon withdraw was funny because it was so outlandish.

I thought this was interesting. Obviously this is something that has been planned a long time.

UN resolution 181. Back then the Arabs refused to recognize a state of Israel and their views on it was that all of Palestine would be an Arab state. Egyptian, Jordanian, Lebanese, Syrian, and Iraqi forces invaded Palestine (back in 1948) and waged wars against the Jews. You can't throw rocks in glass houses.

When the Arabs finally discovered they couldn't defeat the Jews in war, they had a change of mind.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

Why Me -

As has already been patiently and repeatedly explained to you, UN 181 was a General Assembly (non-binding) recommendation to partition Palestine, and its implementation hinged on being accepted by both parties - Arabs and the Zionists - or by the Security Council. Neither happened. Please explain why the Arab League should be expected to accept a defunct resolution that even the Security Council didn't accept.

When the implementation didn't happen, the Zionists decided to take advantage of the opportunity created by the departing of British troops, and declared a State of Israel unilaterally. Please explain why Zionists have the right to do this, while Palestinians don't.

The Arab League declared war on May 15, 1948, after the Zionists unilaterally declared more than half of Palestine as the State of Israel, and after the Zionists had been attacking Palestinian villages for weeks and months, conducting massacres and driving hundreds of thousands of Palestinian civilians into neighboring Arab countries. The Arab League's declaration of war specifically mentions these crimes and the urgent need to protect the indigenous population of Palestine as its reason for declaring war.

There is no U.N. resolution condemning the Arab countries for their miltary response to Zionist attacks, but rather scores of resolutions demanding Israel to cease its occupation of Palestinian lands and allow the return of the refugees.

Please explain why you think that a defunct UN resolution that was never implemented by the Security Council is the pertinent legal reference, while the hundreds of UN resolutions actually passed by the Security Council are somehow irrelevant.

In the face of increasing violence after World War II, the British handed the issue over to the United Nations. The result was Resolution 181, a partition plan to divide Palestine between Jews and Arabs. The Jewish state was to receive around 56% of the land area of Mandate Palestine, encompassing 82% of the Jewish population, though it would be separated from Jerusalem, designated as an area to be administered by the UN. The plan was accepted by most of the Jewish population, but rejected by much of the Arab populace. On 29 November 1947, the plan was put to a vote in the United Nations General Assembly. The result was 33 to 13 in favour of the plan, with 10 abstentions. The Arab countries (all of which had opposed the plan) proposed to query the International Court of Justice on the competence of the General Assembly to partition a country against the wishes of the majority of its inhabitants, but were again defeated. The division was to take effect as part of a British withdrawal from the territory (to be no later than 1 August 1948[5]), though the UK refused to implement the plan, arguing it was unacceptable to both sides.

I'l put it in layman's terms for ya. There was a war back in 1947 between the Jews and the Arabs and the Arabs lost. End of story.

OK. I watched it. I know about the propaganda bureaus. I can't blame Israel for trying to downplay the negatives. The Palestinians need to learn to do the same.

They do. They lob rockets into Israel, and then cry about it when the Israeli's retaliate. If that's not propaganda then what is?

Off the top of my head, I can think of at least a couple dozen pro-Israel Jewish news show anchors, political pundits and syndicated columnists with influence over what Americans get in their daily news broadcasts. For the life of me, I can't think of even one Palestinian with that kind of power in the west.
