I like to read all types of scholars on the subject from many different places. What is important is trying to understand the truth, not trying to reinforce your own personal opinions.

Of course the war must have started on May 15, 1948 - that was the day that Arab countries entered Palestine.

Never mind the fact that Jewish terror gangs and militias had already been conducting attacks and massacres in the weeks and months before that date - many outside the area designated for the Jewish state - destroying homes, businesses and entire villages, and driving hundreds of thousands of Palestinian refugees into neighboring countries, because this fact is inconvenient.

Just ignore the fact that the Irgun's massacre of more than a hundred Palestinian civilians at Deir Yassin occurred on April 9 - almost a full month before any Arab army entered Palestine - because it doesn't fit into the carefully cultivated Zionist narrative of who is, and who is not, the victim.

While you're at it, go ahead and forget that both these facts were specifically mentioned in the Arab League's declaration of war.

Of course - everyone knows that Wikipedia is a Zionist propaganda tool. Or any encyclopedia for that matter.

When it comes to the subject of Israel, you can only believe Palestinian scholars.

Palestinian scholars? Silly git, there's no such thing; a land without a people to a eeople without a land.

There were no such thing as Palestinians. When was there an independent Palestinian people with a Palestinian state? It was either southern Syria before the First World War, and then it was a Palestine including Jordan. It was not as though there was a Palestinian people in Palestine considering itself as a Palestinian people and we came and threw them out and took their country away from them. They did not exist.

---Golda Meir (As quoted in Sunday Times (15 June 1969), also in The Washington Post (16 June 1969) )

"It is a dreadful thing to see the dead city. Next to the port I found children, women, the old, waiting for a way to leave. I entered the houses, there were houses where the coffee and pita bread were left on the table, and I could not avoid [thinking] that this, indeed, had been the picture in many Jewish towns [i.e., in Europe, during World War II]'.

--(Golda Meir, as acting head of the Jewish Agency Political Department, she had visited Arab Haifa and reported back to the Jewish Agency Executive on May 6, 1948;

My family was removed from their homes at gunpoint and loaded onto trucks by the Haganah as part of an attempt at ethnic cleansing in April 1948. It was in defense of this type of action that the retaliation came to Israel from surrounding nations after non-Jews were fleeing over their borders.

That is the fact.

Massacres and attacks took place on both sides. Both sides were armed to the teeth and ready to go at it by the time the UN declared a State of Israel and State of Palestine.

If you compare the two there is no comparison. The indigenous people of Palestine were poorly armed, the Ashkenazi had smuggled a massive storage house of weapons (Spitfires and all manner of surplus allied weapons) not to mention a group of battle-hardened WWII combat veterans who used superior training and combat skills to achieve victory. By the time the surrounding Egyptians and their cohorts decided to "help"out the natives, it was too late. A bunch of villagers and farmers versus a well-trained army, the Warsaw ghetto scenario with even less resistance. They didn't have rich benefactors buying weapons and mercenaries to fight; Hell, they did what they could. The first Zionist Congress met in 1897 but had no idea that Palestine was populated by 800,000 to 1,000,000 people but it was a "land without a people for people without a land."

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

We've already been through 1948 in another thread - the U.N. in fact did not create the State of Israel. In brief: there was a resolution proposed for a partition of Palestine (UN 181) which passed the General Assembly and was sent to the Security Council; however, the SC did not implement the plan because (as SC members specifically stated in the discussions) the plan was not fair to the indigenous Arab inhabitants and would only cause endless violence. The SC sent the proposal back to the GA to come up with some other idea.

So who in their right mind would expect the Arab League to accept a proposal to divide Palestine that not only completely ignored the rights of the majority of its population, but had been soundly rejected by the U.N. Security Council ?

Israel was in fact created when the Zionist leaders unilaterally announced statehood on May 14, 1948. However, in their announcement to both the U.S. president and to the U.N., they stated that Israel's borders were the same as what had been proposed in the defunct U.N. 181.

The 1948 war began in the weeks and months before May 15, 1948 - as Zionist terror gangs and militias began attacking Arab communities both inside and well outside the territory the Zionists claimed as the State of Israel. They conducted massacres, destroyed homes and villages, and expelled hundreds of thousands of civilians who were forced to flee into neighboring countries - all before any Arab country declared war. These neighboring Arab countries had been begging the international community for weeks and months to put a stop to these acts - to no avail.

So the claim that Israel (or pre-state, Zionist leaders) never instigates attacks, but only responds - is not only patently false, it's been false since the beginning of the conflict.

Have you forgotten what they did to Rabbi Dahan (may the memory of his righteous name always be a blessing)? That was a Haganah special, three bullets to the heart. A great man of peace, a Rabbi no less, but he just got in the way of their plans.

There was nothing racist in my post. When did posting a wiki link become racist on here? Is wiki banned now?

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

You've got me on this one, Skip. I'm at a loss to explain what was so objectionable.

There wasn't anything racist about that link to wiki. Just because someone is clueless on how to read and comprehend it's taken as racist and/or not being politically correct. Maybe someone could clue the mods in on a few reading/history lessons. I'm getting tired of this bs.

This quote exemplifies why many non-Muslims view Muslims as uncivilised, murdering savages.

Congratulations on providing clear validation of this misguided point of view.

And the lack of comment and condemnation from others, who purportedly decry the continued violence and insist that the Muslim world is vocal in its opposition to those who support the violence carried out by the terrorists in the name of Islam, is also telling.

Personally, I find the opinion expressed in the quote to be morally repugnant.

Well, we all know what this makes Karee.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

congratulations on either not reading the entire thread, or possessing zero reading comprehension skills. regardless of pooky's little rant, karee remains NOT MUSLIM. he never has been. so i guess his vile comment belongs over in your corner. it's only fair that everyone who isn't muslim now gets saddled with his comment, and will never live it down, no matter how much they may protest.
