Social Security card

My wife from Peru received her permanent resident green card today. The welcome packet says You must go to a Social Security office to get a SSN if:

• You did not ask for a Social Security number or card

when you applied for an immigrant. I think this was a question on the ds-260. But am not sure. It also says she should have received the card three weeks after arriving in the U.S. What do I need to do to get her card?

Thanks.

Not a US citizenship question moving to general

You cant get her card. She needs to go to the SSO and apply for her card if she has not yet gotten it.

Your I-129f was approved in 5 days from your NOA1 date.

Your interview took 67 days from your I-129F NOA1 date.

AOS was approved in 2 months and 8 days without interview.

ROC was approved in 3 months and 2 days without interview.

Well, I guess he could find out where his local SS Office is and drive her there. But yes, Inky is correct, you cannot get the card. letsfish, your wife will need to apply for her a SSN. This link should help her: http://www.ssa.gov/ssnumber/ss5.htm

You can also help her to gather the necessary documentation, but the application has to be made by your wife, not by you.

My husband checked the SS question in form DS-230 but he never received it, we had to go to the nearest SSA office to get one. You can fill out the form on their website, print it out and take it with you.
