Hi. I am a born U.S. citizen and I am petitioning my father for immigrant visa.

I have a question regarding providing financial support to the beneficiary that how a petitioner can support the beneficiary financially?

How much money does the petitioner has to have is his account at the time of filing the petition?

What documents are needed to be attached for father with the I-130 form at the time of filing the petition?

thank you!:)

You need to check the USCIS Poverty Guidelines to see how much you need to make in order to qualify. If you don't make enough or are currently unemployed, you will need a co-sponsor who makes at least what they're requesting.

For example, if you currently don't have any dependents your household size would be 2, you and your father. According to the Poverty Guidelines, you need to make at least $18,387 a year to qualify.

Start by reading the "Guides" - the button is at the top of this page.

Your household size will determine how much money you will need to make to fulfill the I-864 Affidavit of Support.

If your father will not be working and has medical problems, you will need to show how he will pay for his needs without becoming a public charge.

The documents you need are listed in the Guides.

You dont need to have a certain amount of money in the account trust me 1/2 of the cases wouldnt be filed/approved if that was a requirement.

The petitioner can support* the beneficiary by completing the Affidavit of Support documents -AOS. If you choose to provide money then thats okay.

Along with the I-130 for a parent you will need your birth certificate showing his name listed as the father. If he is married, the marriage cert. if divorced the divorced certificate. fees.
