Please explain....

Also if you DID go looking for a specific nationality - which one? I'm interested to know.

My answer: No way...just stumbled upon him...for a while it seemed it would have been easier to have fallen in love with an American...but it all worked out :)

Finally finished with immigration in 2012!

I voted "no". I just happened to fall in love with a Moroccan while we were in Italy. Although I suppose that while I was in Italy, it was nearly certain that anyone I did meet would be a different nationality, but no, I wasn't specifically looking for it.

The thread about why men are looking overseas for wives...

I really think that only applies to two groups of people..and I think this poll will prove me right :)

I wasn't looking for a boyfriend of any kind..... on the internet, I mean... Of course I wanted a boyfriend :P.... but I thought I would find someone in my home town....

I just starting chatting in a MSN chatroom and we happened to meet in there....

He wasn't looking either... and at first he wasn't sure if he wanted to start a relationship with someone so far away.... (granted at first he thought I lived way out in the boonies of Canada but then he looked on a map and found out I was a lot closer then he orignally thought.... :P ) but I was too iresistable to him....

He told me that he was surprised that someone hadn't snatched me up already....

Technically, I am also a foreigner (naturalised to Canada and later US--had to forfeit Indian citizenship when naturalised to Canada).

As I needed a desi (for cultural compatibility) born-again Christian, the only place to search is in India (trying to search at all in North America, the percentages make the pool way too small).

I put it to Bro. Joe that I "was ready to search" after I got my GC in 1999 -- so "other".

For LEF, divorce is anathema so third question inapplicable.

I actually wanted to focus on myself and wasn't looking for a relationship. However, God evidently had other plans for my life because I now have an amazing partner in crime. It just happens that she lives in another galaxy... That kinda makes sense... She lives a long ways away and America considers her an "Alien." LOL!!!

I was definitely not looking for a foreign love interest, we just sort of stumbled on each other and were both at a time in our lives when we were open to trying even over that distance.

We met here in the UK.

Actually the fact that he was American was one of the reasons I turned down his advances at first...I didn't want to get involved with someone who was not going to be hanging around.

hehe, I thought you were going to say: that he was American was one of the reasons I turned down his advances at first, since they are so obnoxious.

I got that a lot over there (& I'm NOT obnoxious or ignorant).
