I am just wandering how many people have had issues with their fiance's interview packet?

We received the noticed that our i-29 petition was approved and the letter was dated December 22nd.

He hasnt been contacted at all as of yet about an interview or sent any paperwork.

I am just posting to see if anyone else is experiencing this time frame from the Embassy in Lagos, Nigeria.

I have sent an email and called several times with no response.

The auto reply says too allow up to 4 months to get the packet but according to what Ive researched its typically sent within a month.

Any reassurance would be helpful.

thanks.

How do I contact NVC? Wouldn't the letter that was sent too us proof that they are preparing the packet to be sent?

I am unsure what you are asking.

the letter does say they are forwarding it to Lagos, but it doesn't directly go there first. It makes a stop at NVC and then they forward it within two weeks of your NOA2. So contact NVC (search their number here on vj or google it)and they will give you your need case number that starts with LGS. DOS can give the same info. NVC then mails it to Lagos.. and then you can email the IV department for Lagos for the date

ok i believe I have our case # already. So once Lagos gets it, how long does that typically take b4 he would get his interview packet/date?

Yes, when I emailed lagos I did put the case # in. They didn't respond. its been a week so i am assuming that they feel their auto response answered our questions.

All petitions go through NVC. We were sent two letters to say that our K1 was approved, and was being sent on to Auckland NZ. In fact, the petition was not sent. It was held at NVC, and we were stuck there in AP for nearly 8 weeks. That is why I am asking if you are only going by the letter they sent that says it would be forwarded, or if you know in fact it has been sent on.

They do not necessarily forward in that timeframe. Be aware it can be as short as 2 or 3 days, or take quite a lot longer.

Here is a link that may help.

Oh i see. Ok I didn't realize that. I thought that the notice that it had been forwarded and received that meant they were preparing his packet and it would be sent soon after. They were having some political issues there recently following our petition approval so I chalked up the wait as a part of those things. I didn't realize I could contact NVC. I will call them tomorrow.

No worries. Quite a lot of people don't know that petitions go to NVC, or that there is a chance they aren't sent right away.

Best time to call them used to be in the evenings. We used to call between 8 and 10 PM. Be aware you need to speak with an actual person, the automated status check does not have K1's on it.

We rang them on (603) 334-0700 When you call them, you will be asked for your receipt number from your NOA2, and you will also be asked for the beneficiaries name and DOB and Petitioners name and DOB. Ask them if your case is there. If so ask them when did it arrive and has it been sent to the embassy. If it hasn't been sent on, ask if it is in AP. Make sure you have the case number for your embassy, which NVC assigns, it ought to start with LGS.

NVCINQUIRY@state.gov is the email address for them as well.

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

so hw did u get ur NEW case number if u havnt spoken to NVC? u said u included it in ur email to lagos? if ur petition is straightforward and simple, it likely doesnt stay that long wit NVC.

I'm sorry, but that is not the case. Plenty of quite straightforward petitions have been, and are, held up at NVC. There are two entire threads on this issue in the NVC forum. Two that spring to mind as bone stick simple, were held there nearly as long as I was. Hasn't a thing to do with high fraud or low, most of the petitions on the original thread were low, or no fraud countries. And almost every one of those was not complicated, had no red flags to overcome. When asked, they will tell you it is random. I was told at interview at the NZ consulate it was random.

I rarely post on here and I always am confused on the jargin and terminology.

We got a letter, now rereading it, it must have came from the NVC. It stated they received our approved petition and it would be forwarded to the Embassay in Lagos within one week.

The letter was dated Dec 22nd. With that being said I plan on calling NVC today (on my lunch break) to see if they have any information.

Our case is very straightforward and no cause for red flags. We actually have everything prepared through an Immigration attorney (as a side note) and she told me we could contact the embassay directly via email, which we did with no reply. She has stated that it could certainly take longer than a month, and that we should just contiune to be patient.

My thoughts were personal experiences a lot of times can make people feel better, hearing similar stories and thats why i reached out.

thank you for all the imput, we just have to be patient.

Yes, we got two of those letters, a week apart, that say it was going to be sent on within one week. It wasn't however, in spite of that.

Good luck for when you call. Have the info you need handy.

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.
