My fiancee is trying to get her Migratory Certificate, but doesn't seem like DAS handles that anymore. Is this certificate still necessary? If yes, where can she get this? Thanks

It's no longer needed. They only need the documents listed in the Instructions Package found in the US Embassy's web site.

Thanks! Good news. My fiancee has her K1 interview on Sept. 21! Just trying to get everything in order. She has an appointment with Dr. Dennis on Sept. 19. I advised her to get vaccines from a clinic a few days before her medical. However, she is still nervous since Dr. Dennis' nurse told her if she needed to get vaccines for K1, it would cost 247.000. She can probably get the 3 vaccines required for about half the price. Would you advise taking the risk or getting them from Dr. Dennis?

You can use your parents' address and then change it after you move. Your wife will have to file form AR-11 (online) to change her address within 30 days of your move and you will have to send form I-865 to change yours. You both need to do this every time you move until she becomes a US citizen. It's important to change your info with the USCIS in case her green card is lost in the mail or they mail it to the wrong address. If you have proof that you changed it before they mailed it, then they'll replace it at no cost to you, but if you don't, then you wwill have to pay to get another green card.

Or, if you're sure you will be at your new address before they can mail you the NOA1 for your AOS package, you can fill out all forms with your new address. I still recommend you file forms AR-11 and I-865 just in case, i's best to cover all bases.

Diana

We are getting married August 27 in fort myers (unless it gets delayed a day or two because of the storm), and we will be back home in INdianapolis on September 1st, and then we're moving into our Apartment September 14th and will sign a year lease. So I'm going to say it will probably be best just to use the new address on the paperwork. Now...since all of the previous paperwork that asked questions like "where will you live" was listed as my parents address, is there any special form i need to fill out, or just fill out the regular AOS packet with the new / future address? Sorry for all the questions i'm just in stress mode right now.

Thanks

I am sitting in Bogota waiting for my Fiance's Visa to arrive.

She had her interview last Friday the 17th. I didn't realize that last Monday was a Colombian holiday wehn I booked our flights to the US for tomorrow, Friday the 24th. I was reading that it would take 2 to 3 business days to received our Visa. So I figured that would leave the rest of Friday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. I figured that would be plenty of time when I bought the tickets.

Anways, we are now sitting in Bogota and have only today left before our flight first thing in the morning tomorrow. I am checking my email and the website every hour or less. But it still says "There is no information on the DHL Waybill at this time." I am still hoping to get it today, but I preparing myself for the fact that I will need to move my flight.

So my question to the boards, if we do not get my fiances Visa today, when do you think is the best time to reschedule the flight for? I was thinking Sunday might be good. Because that would gives us Friday and Saturday to hopefully get it. And I am expected at work on Monday. And I have long since burned through my vacation so every missed day now really hurts financially.

But is that too optimisitic? Would I be better to rescehdule for Tuesday or Wednesday?

Thanks all for the opinions.

Well, every doctor should accept any vaccines that the beneficiary has gotten even if they were years ago but every now and then they want to make extra money and force the beneficiaries to get them again at their office. What most people have found is that if they get them no more than two weeks before the appointment, then they're fine. The only vaccines needed for an immigrant visa are MMR, TD and varicella (if the patient hasn't had varicella as a child). According to the US Department of State website the influenza vaccine is needed during flu season which runs from October to March. I know the Interview package has a long list of vaccines that are required but keep in mind that most of those vaccines are needed under certain conditions, ex.: if the person has ever been exposed to hepatitis, if the person is a senior citizen, if they lived in the jungle, etc. That's why most people only need the three I mentioned above.

If your fiancée can get them for less than what the doctor's office quoted her, then she can get them before her appointment. If the cost is pretty much the same, then she can get them during her exam.

Yes, use the new address on all the AOS forms so they have the new address. But since you used your parents' address during the K1 process and that's what the USCIS currently has, you need to file form I-865 to notify them of the address change and your wife will need to file form AR-11 online.

Let's dissect this. If the visa was approved Friday and Monday was a holiday, the countdown began on Tuesday. You can't count the Friday she got the visa because nothing was done that day and can't count Monday either for obvious reasons. So Tuesday was your first business day, Wednesday was day two and today day three which means you may get your visa today or tomorrow, Monday at the latest. You can't count Saturday because it's not a business day.

I would also call or go to your local DHL office directly just in case they DO have it and it's not showing up in the system. It doesn't hurt to check.

seloto,

Unfortunately VisaJourney is for family based visas such as K, CR and IR visas and most of us don't have any experience on the kind of visa you're petitioning. Sorry .

Diana, you are right. My Wife didn't get a telephone call when her Visa arrived in Barranquilla nearly 2 weeks after her approval. In fact, the "Express Mail" people didn't raise a finger to even call her. When she asked, they told her that they didn't deliver to her Barrio. :bonk: I booked her flight 6 weeks out from the time of her approval.

Is it absolutely necessary to get the employment letter? If yes, can it be a scanned copy or does it need to be the original? Just afraid the original won't get there on time/gets lost.

Thanks
