OK so NVC complete. I called NVC today and she said that she doesn't know when we will hear about our interview but she said they will probably schedule in mid-July for an August interview. Does anyone know if this is accurate, or was she just telling me scripted information? Do any of you have a better idea of when we will find out our interview date? Thanks!

They schedule interviews during the first two weeks of each month for the following month. So if they're able to do it you'll get an August interview. The US Embassy in Colombia was not cooperating much a few months ago and all CR/IR interviews were being scheduled two months after the cases were completed at the NVC but recently I've seen a few cases where they're following the one month rule.

Good luck!

Diana

So my fiancee's interview is in a couple weeks (july 6) and we're in the final stages of preparation. Mostly i'm just quizzing her on questions they may ask, but for the most part we aren't too worried because she has all the proper documents in order, and as long as she answers honestly we don't foresee any issues.

I do have a question though. Aside from the two passport photos for each copy of the DS 156, does she need to bring any additional passport size photos to the interview?

No, that's all she needs because she needed a total of six photographs. Two were needed for her medical and lab and the rest I believe she takes to the embassy.

So...to confirm what was said earlier by Diana:

I was told today that my appointment would be scheduled the second week in July and depending (I belive they use this as a "scape goat")on the sheduleing capacity that the NVC receives from the Embassy...I should be scheduled for an August appointment.

Diana, do you know when abouts the NVC receives this "schdule" from the Embassy? Man, i think this is going to be some of the hardest weeks...so close yet not a thing you can do....

After the NVC completes the case they call each embassy and schedule the appointment with them depending on their availability, so it's really up to the embassy to agree on a date. In your case they should be calling the embassy in Bogotá during the first two weeks of July to schedule the interview appointment for August, if for some reason the embassy says they're full or don't have a date available for August they'll then ask the NVC to call again during the first two weeks of August for a September interview. Either that, or they'll schedule it for September on the spot. So either way you're looking at an August interview date at the earliest, September at the latest.

So...im on cloud nine as they say. I came home from work like always set my stuff down and my Blackberry rang that I just received a message. Nothing new, but I always check righ away incase its something for work...AND LOW AND BEHOLD a message from the NVC! I was scared to read it cause it was too early since everything ive read and was told is that the NVC wont be scheduleing until the first two weeks of July and so I thought it was a ROE or something (not that I have anything to hide - just my mind going crazy). Anyway, I opened it up, downloaded the attachment...and BAM! it was my Wife's letter telling her about her appointment date and instructions!!!! I was freaking out...and sure enough my Wife called me within minutes of me receiving the email...exited about the email as well! and we did the happy dance over the phone! OH...sorry, we are scheduled for the 9th of August.

Diana...could you confirm how many days the Visa will take to arrive? We are having it delivered in Bogota. Also, does Saturday count?...as the DHL office is open half days on Saturdays.

Thanks Diana!

its lame that you'll have to miss your first anniversary...but you cant beat having a firm date. Congrats Bro!

Congratulations!! I personally think the NVC schedules interviews whenever they can but say they do it during the first two weeks of the month to be on the safe side.

The visa takes between 2-3 business days to be delivered in Bogotá. So no, weekends and holidays are not taken into account.

Ok quick question.. I have read 2 different things on VJ post... For an IR1/CR1 interview. does she need to bring original documents? I have read where people say that the NVC sent them, and that there is no need for her to bring them again to the interview... Others say that she must bring the original documents... Anyone know how to clarify this? Thanks!

She only needs her passport and medical because everything else was already sent to the NVC, however, it's always a good idea to bring copies of them just in case the embassy misplaces any document or says they never received it.

Ok, so i have something i'm hoping is a minor issue. I'm a little upset with my fiancee for not checking this sooner, because I've told her 10 times to double and triple check all of the information on the forms. I filled out all her forms and shipped them to her weeks ago. The interview is this Friday, and she just noticed that on the DS 156 when I typed her cedula number I left out one digit.

Of course, this is the one form that can only be filled out online...so i cannot email her the PDF and have her print it.

Do you think it will be a problem if she just manually corrects it with a pen? Or should she not do anything and see if they even look at it? What should we do here? I assume it will be fine if she just crosses it out and corrects it with pen. What do you think? Obviously we're stressed trying to get everything perfect so we want to do the right think here. I really don't want to make her re-do the entire form online because it's in English and it will be confusing.

What do you think? Thanks!!!!!!!!!

Actually i think what i'm gonna do is scan my copy of the DS 156, correct the number in photoshop, then send her the page and have her print it.

I think that's the best way to do it. Any advice would be much appreciated. The interview is Friday so we have a few days to figure it out

I personally don't think it's a huge issue at all but another option would be for her to print her own version and just enter the same info the current one has on the new one, with the correct cédula number of course. If not, then in all honesty I don't think it's a big deal if she just enters the missing digit.
