I just talked to a representative from the Department of State Visa Office and they confirmed that our Visa was issued (Stamped on the passport) last Thursday at the US EMBASSY in Bogota. We also signed up for DHL for delivery to one of their branches through the CSC website (in which we had to register and input our email/phone number, etc).

QUESTION: Should we expect some type of notification (via email perhaps) about the status of our visa?? Either if it has been shipped or if it's in transit??

Do you always get notified? or should I be doing something else?

I just want to stay on top of this and find out as soon as the passport w/visa is ready for pick up.

NOTE: We selected our visa package to be deliver to DHL in Barranquilla since my wife resides in that city. Thanks!

No, you won't be notified of when the visa is issued, nor when it departs for delivery, nor when it is delivered. You will have to time it and call their branch to find out if they received it. Remember that it takes between 6-10 business days if it has to be delivered outside of Bogotá.

Hi Diana and Thanks for your reply. I believe what you state is no longer the case. Below is an email I received this morning from the IV Unit in Bogota, Colombia:

"We will send an e-mail to the e-mail address listed on your wife’s account within 4-5 business days of the interview. You can also go into your wife’s account at http://colombia.usvisa-info.com and check to see when a DHL waybill number has been assigned. Once you find that waybill number, you can track the package, and, when it’s delivered, your wife can go to the DHL office she selected (with the waybill number) to pick up her passport and visa package.

Sincerely,

Immigrant Visa Unit

U.S. Embassy Bogota"

So I guess after all, we will be eventually notified :P

That's really a great move on their part because it used to be a guessing game of when they might deliver it. Some time the people at DHL would have it and never notify the person until they were contacted about it.

Thanks for the info!

So my AOS and IV were just delivered to NVC today. I know the general time-frame about getting an interview date for a CR-1.. But does anyone have any insight as to how long it is taking now? I just want to be able to share with my wife an estimate. Thanks for the help, amigos.

It takes the NVC about 2-3 weeks to complete the case and then after that it's up to the embassy to decide on an interview date. On average it's about two months after the NVC case completed date.
