Does anybody know how long after I have my medical at the US Embassy in London will I get my interview afterwards? and then The actual Visa delivered to me? ( k1 visa ) I have my Medical Monday 20th Feb 2012 - I have found a good flight price and am trying to work out if it will be processed in time - the flight I want is 8th April - would it be advisable to book it? I then have around 7 weeks for it all to go through - my packet has already been sent back to the Embassy and everything is ready to go my end, everything so far has run really smoothly not a question asked so far. Also does anybody know what the employment situation is like in America for Immigrants at the moment? I am worried because all my qualifications are NVQ's and and an engineering apprenticeship, plus a european space agency certificate allowing to work on electronics/wiring etc in the aerospace industry etc - but I have no idea what light that will stand me in America as hear they love you to have Bachelors and masters degrees etc which I do not - I never even went to University here lol. someone said they put imigrants at he bottom of the list and always employs Americans over us first? doesnt sound too promising

don't book anything until you have the visa. your just tempting fate to slam you right in the butt.

If you really cannot afford to lose £400 on a flight do you really have enough money saved up to move to the US and not work for at least 3 months?

I had my medical on the 26th Oct and had the visa in my hand on the 23rd December. The visa took 11 days to be delivered after the interview.I would say you are being too optomistic on time scales.

I seem to have been lucky with mine, medical was on the 17th January, interview on the 13th February, got a text from the courier saying my visa will arrive February 20th.

But was VERY surprised about my interview date being so early. I was expecting it to be in late March/April. A lot of people have to wait longer, so I would be very hesitant to buy those tickets. I know it's frustrating, but that's a lot of money gone to waste if your interview is later then that, and the embassy is under no obligation whatsoever to move your interview forward on the ground that you booked your tickets too early. I want to book mine too out of excitement, but I'm waiting for Monday and the visa is in my hand.
