This process is exasperating at best. The basic problem is the secrecy involved with the system, of how, what, why, there and when, no real status to show a progression of activity. We like others maybe would have done this journey different, finish a project at home or abroad rather than wait till the end. Applied for a different type of visa or get married then apply. But in the end you will be with your loved one. Many never finished the process and that could be why it takes so long to weed those out. Nerveless thousands of us have survived the process and you will also. Keep the faith remember the goal.

In Arizona its hot hot hot.

If anyone U.S government agency gives you a timeline for 5months, and they meet the timeline. To me, the agency is very effective.

I'm persuaded by what I've read here that the employees are working as best as they can, but it does seem that there aren't enough of them. I don't think you can call the agency effective just because they meet what is a laughable timeline. If a private company took 5 months to get around to work which takes about 30 minutes, they won't last too long (unless they had a govt contract of course :)).

OP - hang in there, you'll be with your fiance soon enough. Mine's coming in two weeks and a few days, I can hardly wait for this miserable process to finally be done.

From a current Federal employee, and former career military veteran (same a many other fed employees).

I work my butt off, as do most of the other federal workers. We take great pride in our work as I am sure you do with yours. Our budgets have been slashed to nothing in past years, and many workers are doing three jobs just to keep up with demand.

Please don't take your frustrations out on us. I have a petition sitting at the service center SAME AS YOU, and am waiting SAME AS YOU. Many, if not most countries don't even have a K1 type fiancé program. Receiving a K1 is a privilege and not a right, so show a little gratitude toward your country and a little patience with some poor folks that are working hard to chop through a mountain of paperwork.

According to your timeline and the VJ calculations: Based on timeline data, your I129f may be adjudicated between March 24, 2012 and March 29, 2012*.

I am not trying to add to this with any disrespect to anyone else but here is my 2 cents.. Customer service is what I feel most anyone going through this, including myself would like to see more of in these "processes" and transparency as mentioned earlier in the posts, to what is happening on the petition as it is going. Through all coorespondences I have had and seeing posted, that is pretty much fact that the application's sit on a desk somewhere until they get to it through every step it goes from pile to pile. So when anyone calls inquires they have no clue where it is or what is happening on it "how can you if its sitting in a pile somewhere" and quote what they are told to say... Its in the process of "" whatever stage it is at. It's not the person that picks up the applications fault there are so many they have to go through but the need of more of them to do the job. With that many applications a day just of the K1 process per day you would think the many thousands of dollars could pay for more to help the process..."Make Jobs" My understanding USCIS is paid for by the fees they obtain not tax payers, So it is a service provided like a business. Well either someone makes tons of money or the money goes somewhere other then helping the process services from the looks. The right to marry someone is a right to anyone in the US not a privledge based on the federal government. If you are legal to marry and are not breaking laws to do it. The whole immigration process of the understanding I have is the need for security and protection of the people involved and the US. It is to verify no one is making false claims. Most I think would agree a period of time for making sure this is what each party wants to do with their life is not a major problem. The whole intake and output I feel should really be addressed and allow applicants some sort of customer service that can answer questions with some sort of answer not just telling you, canned messages and you can't call for at least X amount of days to find out. Because it should be at the top of the pile by then.

Yes, you CAN marry anyone of legal age (and appropriate gender in some states) in the United States, but it is NOT a right to allow a foreign citizen of your choice to enter the United States for the purpose of marriage. The United States allows that to happen in most cases, but its decided on the basis of National Security and not on the individual rights of the Petitioner.

There was a lenthy discussion on this topic some time ago. Someone whose fiancée was denied a K1was complaining that his Constitutional rights were violated because he was not able to reach his "Life, Liberty & pursuit of Happiness" (actually part of the Dec of Indep). I certainly dont want to open that can of worms again, but it can be found with a search through the forum archives.

Anyhoo, not disagreeing with you that the K1 Petition process couldn't be improved or streamlined. My only disagreement with the OP was his statement that the "Lazy Federal workers" are responsible for the delays.

We received our NOA1 on October 26 and I see plenty of couples who filed after we did that have received their NOA2 already... The only thing is, they sent their paper work to the Vermont Center... Is it the case that they give decisions faster? This is really frustrating.

That also happened to me, my fiance applied in texas and we were changed to Vermont and then they requested an RFE, my fiance changed the addresss and we had a problem with the mail stuff and we updated the address with the Uscis but they took 60 days to send us the paper and then they said they will give us an expedition but the website says we will just hear from them in 60 days! keep waiting but keep calling as well, some ppl help you more than others, I know this waiting is sooooooo stressed! but it's so worthy for the beloved ones :)

I do not think it is lazy Federal Workers either, there is no incentive to have the process done any quicker, no incentive to hire more workers, there is no incentive for better customer service, it is what it is, I count it a blessing that it can get done in less than a year for spouses and fiances, some other family relationships take significantly longer than a year. There is nothing the citizens of the US can do about it except filing a complete and correct petition, wait and hope for the best, we are all at the mercy of the US Govt in this regard.

I accept and respect the law that requires me to request permission from the US Govt to bring my wife to the US to be with me for national security and fiscal purposes however, I would feel better about it if all "aliens" entering the country had to undergo the same scrutiny. Taking the legal immigrants through this cumbersome process while allowing the lion's share of the immigrants to pass into the US without inspection is nonsense to me, but that is another matter all together.

Processing times were 5 months when we started this, figured then that anything faster than that was a bonus.

Maybe we Brits are just better at queuing

Oh, I better stop before I get on that soapbox (in agreement with you).

In a nutshell: Both of our Fiancées are not of political value to any politician.

I also see numerous Petitioner's with fiancées from Mexico in this forum, and wish I could shake their hands. They have chosen to follow the rules of law, yet ironically are delayed while many of their fellow countryman break the same law and are rewarded.

I just want to take a moment to thank everyone for their kind words about the process and my fiance... You're all very generous for taking time out of your day to send a kind message of support. And to anyone I may have offended or irked in anyway I do apologize it was not my intention and I can see how the things I said could get under someone's skin. I'm actually so happy that this forum exists, it's a wealth of knowledge and the people are all so nice to offer their stories so openly and to lend a helping hand when needed. Thanks again everyone, Alexandra and I appreciate everything!!!! (L)

Best,

The now very calm and patient OP :P
