Why are timelines going down?

Hey everybody so...i am very impatient with all this paperwork. And I do a monitoring of my form (I-130) in the timelines daily, and i have noticed something a little interesting.

I noticed that the timelines go backwards instead of going forward with every day passed.

Do you know why is this happening? Is this something good or bad?

Thank you for your response.

Maybe the place where it estimates what dates USCIS is

processing particular petitions ... it'll say one date one day,

then the next day the date shows an earlier date rather than

a later date ... ?

My best advice is to not rely on those timelines at all since they are not a true representation of the entire population applying for a visa. Those numbers are just based on people who log in and update their NOA2's and that's it. Do you think every single person in the world trying to immigrate to the US has a VJ account, or even know this website exist?

I am sure it can never be an exact science but I posed to EWOK to maybe consider it to be mandantory to fill in a timeline in order to have an account on VJ when it actually applies to a person with a petition? ie. some people might come on here with no application and for other reasons...but wouldnt it make it more solid of an estimate?

What are the ramifications if it was mandatory? Is that too dictator-like? Just a suggestion.

Don't put so much into the timelines. For the CSC, in one month there's about 50 filers from VJ. In one day, I've seen estimates that the CSC actually receives about 900 applications.

VJ's timelines are a pretty small representation of what's actually being processed. I think you'll get really discouraged if you take those time estimates as fact - but they do give you a somewhat good "target" date if you will.

Thank you for your response.

There is also a Federal Govt. hiring freeze current at least till March. Then agencies will hire employees at 1 new hire to 3 losses.

Perhaps as USCIS employees retire, transfer or simply quit replacements cannot be hired or trained in a timely manner. Just a thought........
