The NOA2 (I-797) states to allow 30 days before contacting NVC. Of course we hear quite often of people getting their embassy case number within two weeks, it will get there just need to do that waiting thing some more.

I have not tried to contact NVC yet, not that I am not anxious, just giving them close to the two weeks before calling.

For the NVC:

K1's are not tracked through the AVR, EVER. They are processed like an immigrant visa, but they are NOT immigrant visas, so they fall into a completely different class of their own. Therefore you need an operator. To get there:

Press 1 for English

Press 5 for an operator

you can learn of the consulate case number by calling into NVC, getting a Human.

IF you are solely relying on the AVR to tell you the case # - alas - the AVR never reports back casefile numbers for those chasing after a K-1 visa, ever. Never, Never, Ever.

If you got a Human on this last Friday, and still no number - well hei - ask them if they have the casefile on Monday.

If they still not have the casefile, then is really good chance the casefile is still with USCIS, the service center that approved yer petition.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Did you include the required info in the email? I know when I emailed NVC they replied within the day. In fact the email arrived within the hour of me calling to inquire and getting the embassy case number. I guess I had no patience either.

When you call them Monday ask if your case is undergoing administrative processing which might take 1-6 weeks extra at nvc.

Also, I remember seeing a post earlier today where a guy had to wait 5 weeks from his noa2 to get his case number

Sometimes getting a case number takes 2 days and sometimes it has taken 66 days.

Lately it has been around 2-3 weeks.

Good luck

May 24, 2011 NOA1

Sept 11, 2011 NOA2-took 19 days to get case number

Sept 30, 2011 NVC number and IIN received Friday-gotta wait till Monday

Oct 13, 2011 Case Completed- 13 days from receiving case number Took 32 days from NOA2

Nov 30, 2011 Notified of Interview date

January 19, 2012 Interview- 240 days from NOA1

INTERVIEW RESULTS-APPROVED WITH 14 WEEKS AP--but he got his visa in 56 days!!!!!!

PLEASE EDIT YOUR TIMELINE IN YOUR PROFILE SO OTHERS CAN LEARN HOW LONG EACH STEP TAKES IN THIS PROCESS
