Surveillance video at a Florida airport shows a traveler scooping up a $6,500 Rolex watch and a bracelet with a crucifix that a Kentucky woman had momentarily left behind in a gray plastic screening bin, the Sun-Sentinel reports.

The video shows a fellow passenger, who was retrieving his items from the post-screening conveyor belt at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport last month, noticing the valuables in an adjacent bin. He glances around briefly, picks up the goodies and walks off.

Gloria de Regalado, from Lexington, Ky., says her husband had given her the watch to celebrate her 40th birthday, the births of their three children and their 10th wedding anniversary, the newspaper says.

She tells the newspaper she normally puts such items in a closed purse, but this time, in a rush, put them directly into the bin. The valuables ended up beneath her bag, which she retrieved without looking under it.

De Regalado says she made eye contact with the suspect before the realized her items were gone.

"He had an opportunity to do right by himself, he knew who I was and he could have redeemed himself, but he didn't," she tells the newspaper.

Broward Sheriff's Lt. Brian Montgomery tells the newspaper that the suspect was not on a Dallas-bound flight as expected, and may have taken a North Carolina flight instead. Montgomery says he will have to subpoena that passenger list to try to track him down.

I hope they catch this low life

They caught the guy --- Cops Bust Man For Brazen Theft Of $6500 Rolex From TSA Screening Checkpoint

A New York man was arrested today and charged with stealing a $6500 Rolex watch as he passed last month through a Transportation Security Agency checkpoint at a Fort Lauderdale airport.

Investigators released video (see above) of the brazen watch theft earlier this week, triggering an outpouring of calls to a Broward County Crime Stoppers hotline. The phone tips, investigators noted, confirmed that the Rolex was swiped by Igor Ramos, a 37-year-old businessman who travels between Florida and New York selling cars.

Pictured at right, Ramos was picked up today at his condo in Sunny Isles. Ramos was “wearing the prized Rolex watch on his wrist” when he opened the door for Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies, according to a news release.

A sheriff's spokesperson reported that when a deputy questioned him about the Rolex, Ramos replied, "It was a gift from God."

Ramos, who also maintains a residence on Long Island, was charged with the felony grand theft and transported to the county jail.

While surveillance video (and still photos) of the theft were broadcast/published nationwide, Ramos--“due to his heavy travel”--was apparently unaware that he was the subject of a manhunt
