Well, she has her medical records already and her vaccination card. Doesn't she have enough time to start her vaccinations at the medical and finish them here before the AOS?

I've seen different vaccination requirements for immigration. Is this the correct list of vaccinations that she needs for the AOS: http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3745.html ?

Yes except inflienze is only required during specified periods and Varicella (chiken pox) is not needed if the have a history of chicken pox. Also some are age specific and she will be exempt from them. This will be indicated by "not age appropriate" on the DS 3025. Check the requirements for adjustment of status (I-485) not for an immigrant visa. K-1s are not immigrant visas, if they were we would have no discussion about vaccines in the US, she would be required to have the vaccines there.

Requirements change all the time so check the most recent list for Adjustment of Status and YES it is possible you could get them ALL and then they could add one between the time of your interview and the time you file AOS and you would be required to get it...but there is not much we can do about that. we can only prepare as best as possible now.

I would re-enforce what everyone is telling you about the CS, whether scam or not understanding the right CS can really streamline the process. Anything done prior to coming here will make it simpler. I actually shopped for a good CS, found one, then chose the closer one and not the best, most informed one.

My insurance paid for MMR as well but also the County Medical (Free) Clinic would've done them for $15.

The vaccination card is useless here in the US. You NEED the DS-3025, it's the same thing but is the only "card" that USCIS will accept for AOS. Period.

When shopping for CSs for AOS, you need to be specific in what you ask for, "I want to know your fee to transcribe my fiance's DS-3025 vaccination record from her medical for the K-1 onto the I-693 form?"

If you ask anything else, they will quote full cost......or only partial cost and hit you up for more at that time.

It is suggested not over-complicate this process or try to do things your own way.....see how that paid off for you regarding the Intent Letters' signatures.....if that is why the RFE was pulled.

But you CAN do whatever you want....but please don't come back here, like you were prior to receiving the RFE and complain about all the time it is taking.....some of which you added onto by your own decision. The process is really not that complicated or mysterious.

With the letter of intent, I followed USCIS's advice. Their advice was wrong.

No you followed the advice of the person who answered the phone.....they were not specifically legally qualified to have their verbal statement supersede any written regulation in effect st the time.

If you follow the VJ Guides to the letter and stop adlibbing and follow the experienced folks who are giving you the same advice over and over; as long as your case is normal, and you teo have a real relationship and can prove that on your own, all will be fine.

So what document will you have your fiance obtain at her medical?

Phil (Lockport, near Chicago) and Alla (Lobnya, near Moscow)

As of Dec 7, 2009, now Zero miles apart (literally)!

Take her to your family doc to get any other vaccinations, you have private insurance, Vaccinations might be covered 100%, mine did. Listen to everyone here don't let the CS scam you into thinking she needs an exam! I paid 25 bucks a person to have them xfer vaccination records to I-693. Call around.

Spoken words aren't the same as written. There may be a reason why the advise you were given was wrong. The instructions are not bulletproof but they cover the essential information you need. When following them, you'll most likely only end up getting an RFE, if any at all. When listening to people having gone through the same procedure you get a better idea what to expect but we don't know everything that applies to you case. When you don't mention having been married we assume you haven't. It's important information to share with USCIS however.

I linked to the vaccination record, that is the one used at the medical required for your fiancee as an intending immigrant. No way around it in home country.

In the AOS instructions it says you do not need another full exam if your medical was done less than 12 months prior to filing. Your proof of it is the ds3025 copy(it has a date on it). The ds3025 has to be completed (age appropriate) when filing for AOS. And everything has to be done through a civil surgeon approved by USCIS if it was not completed already. The vaccinations can be done by any doctor, and then put into the vaccination record by a civil surgeon.

VJ has a search field, there's much information on the medical here.

Civil surgeons will often say you need a whole new exam, which you do not. They will also still try and charge you for one, even when just transcribing the vaccinations to the I-693. If you can avoid seeing a civil surgeon, all the better.

You need one in a series for MMR, Tdap/TD, and the varicella or it marked VH to indicate you already had chickenpox. Flu shot is needed during flu season (Oct.-Mar.) The others usually will be marked not age appropriate or they are simply not required.

This post explains what you need in more details. You need the DS-3025 to be checked off as 'complete', or be checked off for all the required vaccines and say 'incomplete, may be eligible for blanket waiver'. Then send in a copy of the DS-3025 with your AOS paperwork and never need to find a civil surgeon that won't rip you off: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/335754-ds-3025-complete-or-not/page__p__4971318#entry4971318

I think it's going to be easier for us to just start this at her medical interview. It seems like we can just kill two birds with one stone. Plus, I know that the vaccinations are only $25 each. So, it may only be about $100 (I think she only needs 2 or 3 immunizations for immigration purposes).

that is what i did too. i had my medical yesterday and i had 3 vaccinations done at the same time...

MMR, shot 1 of a 2 part series. the nurse told me that the second part can be done when i want but it isnt needed for AOS. the DS-3025 will have a tick in the "not time appropriate box"

TD or TDaP.

Flu.

tell them you had chicken pox and Varicella isnt needed. the DS-3025 will be marked "VH". the rest where marked as "not age appropriate".

it cost me £85 (just over $100) on top of the medical fee but knowing that all i have to do now to satisfy AOS requirements is to provide a copy of my DS-3025 makes it well worth the cost :)

Hey Jay,

question for you , i was reading your post, correct me if I am wrong but you basically saying you dont need a civil surgeon visit if the ds-3025 is filled out as you state. From what i can see my fiancee's is except for nothing in box for measeal and mumps. I guess I can assume that eans she needs to go to the doc>

Yes, if filled out as it says in the linked post, then you would not need to see a civil surgeon. If your fiancee is missing the MMR, then she will need to get that shot and see a civil surgeon to have her vaccinations transcribed onto the I-693. She does not need a whole new medical exam though, just the missing vaccination and certain parts of the I-693 filled out and signed by the civil surgeon. It tells what you need done in the I-693 instructions.
