Ensure she requests and gets a copy of the DS-3025. This will be needed for AOS.

Don't worry about what info they put on it.....just get that form.

Yes. the vaccinations acquired before or at the medical are put into a document - that document is the link I provided.

When the vaccination record is incomplete in home country you'll need that piece paper and take it to a civil surgeon in the US - either to first get the last vaccinations and then to have them added to the vaccination record, Or go to your family doctor and get the vaccinations and proof of it(receipts) and then take that and the vaccination record to a civil surgeon and have them transcribed. A full exam isn't needed when doing AOS within a year. Keep calling until you find someone who'll just do the transcribing. It's less expensive.

Bottom line, if it's cheaper to get the shots in home country don't wait. But do indeed get a copy of the vaccination record no matter what you choose.

Congrats on visa then :)

Actually, it may be less expensive to get the shots in her home country, but I think that with my medical insurance I will basically pay nothing up front out-of-pocket. I have an HSA plan, and I have a prepaid debit card to spend up to ($1000 for myself | $1,5000 for couples (after we get married)) on qualified expenses. So, I'll have to research whether or not that's a qualified expense. I'm already paying for insurance, and will continue. So, I might as well capitalize on that. I'm not a very sickly person. I most likely won't use that 1k in the year.

Great! And how much is your insurance going to pay toward the cost of the Civil Surgeon who has to sign the forms? This is not a matter of the cost of the vaccines, that's the cheap part.

Get ALL her vaccines now, in Russia. Take the proof of the vaccines to the medical exam and request form DS 3025. Make sure it is checked "vaccinations complete" She KEEPS this form. When she arrives you will then need only your marriage certificate and you will be ready to file the AOS. Any other course of action will add cost and delay your AOS.

Does she get that form by default, or only if she gets additional vaccinations there?

She needs to ask for it and make sure she does not leave until she has it and make sure it says "vaccinations complete" (the little box is checked) If it does not she needs to ask why it is not checked and correct it right there.

Is that form used to certify her existing vaccinations, as well as any additional she begins there? I mean, if she doesn't get any additional vaccinations there, will she still need that if we are planning on getting all of the vaccinations required for immigration here in the U.S.?

I think that the G3025 is what she was referring to as the international vaccination record form, which isn't the same as her Russian vaccination card.

I called about getting the vaccinations required for immigration done here in the U.S., and they told me it'd be about $250 for the exam/consultation and all of the required vaccinations...

It is the form she needs which is FREE. If she does not get this form she will need to have an I-693 filled out for by a Civil Surgeon and signed off on and many charge more than $250.

I have nio clue who you called about the fees but it is no one that actually does it. Civil Surgeons do it and they can charge WHATEVER they want...and usually do. Including they can just decide they will not sign the vaccination form unless you have another medcial exam...fo $400 or so.

If you are rally doing comparision shopping, then google "Civil Surgeons (your state)" and call them and ask what their prices are and their lead times for exams. Depending where you live you could be waiting 3-4months for an appointment, paying $200-400 PLUS vaccines. Or you could get someone that gets you right in and only charges $100...OR you can get it done for free the day of the medical exam. Your choice.

Civil surgeons are bigger parasites than attorneys, if you can imagine that, and they are to be avoided at all costs. Alla and I have worked with Senator Leahy to draft legislation to eliminate the need for Civil Surgeons for immigration purposes and allow any US doctor to handle these forms and medical exams. We are now waiting for a bill he attaches this to as an amendment to PASS congress and we will cut these bloodsuckers off.

In the meantime you have the option to get this done FREE while she is overseas, except perhaps for a small cost for the vaccines. Use it.

You may find she has all the vaccines she needs anyway. For my wife and two sons we needed only ONE vaccine for one of the boys, nothing else. Alla went to the doctors office without appointment, gave them $10 US and they gave him the vaccine. We sucessfully adjusted status for all three people with only the DS3025 which I learned about here on VJ.

Correction: in Moscow they charge $20 for DS-3025 (still better than $250), so, OP, if she does her medical at IOM, make sure she has $160 to pay for the medical + $20 to pay for the form.

Thanks ONA, I did not know that. In Kiev it is free, still MUCH better to pay the $20. usually paying $20 in Russia is enough to ensure the form is "properly filled out" We added a quart of Maple Syrup for the coffee room and some Lake Champlain Chocolate, three bars...one for everyone in the office. :P

I called the civil surgeon here already. They told me that it would only be about $250 for the exam and vaccinations. But you are saying that there is also a charge to fill out that form?

Like I said before, here and I have yet to decide on this. But, if she can get all of her vaccinations at the time of interview, then we'll probably get them there. I know that some of her vaccinations are more than one series. So, she'll have to complete them here in order to be full vaccinated, and that will require a civil surgeon.

My insurance gives me up to 1500 for couples to spend on qualifying expenses. That may be one of them. As I said, I have to call and find out. Since that is "preventative care", it may cost me nothing since I have a 0% deductible on preventative care.

In order to adjust status the vaccines only needd to be started. Start them in Russia. make sure, first, she even needs them. Get her exisitng medical records.

I am saying a civil surgeon can charge WHATEVER HE WANTS and require whatever he wants to get his signature. Since she had a medical exam in Moscow they only thing she would really NEED is for his signature on the form I-693. But to GET that signature he can do whatever he wants. If you do NOT get the vaccines started there and you do not get the DS-3025 then you will be subject to whatever a CS wants.

Why on earth is she not starting her vaccines today with her regular doctor? Seriously we had this DONE before we filed the petition. Now you have an RFE coming to, you per your other thread, so why are you not jumping on this right away? Use the time you have wisely. You want MORE RFEs for the AOS? I mean experienced people are lining up here to give you every way to avoid problems.

But I am reminded, people watch auto racing for the inevitable crashes.

Postpone. Delay. Complicate. Sounds like a plan, and may save you $20.

In case you think I am kidding, why is the CS quoting you for an exam you don't need? Oh, they said you need one? No you don't. The medical exam you pay for in Moscow is valid for one year. But they will say you do, because you DO in order for them to sign. It is a SCAM.

If you have $1500 per year to use for medical expenses why not use it for real medical expenses and not give it to people who are scamming you?

Well, she has her medical records already and her vaccination card. Doesn't she have enough time to start her vaccinations at the medical and finish them here before the AOS?

I've seen different vaccination requirements for immigration. Is this the correct list of vaccinations that she needs for the AOS: http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3745.html ?

Start then today. Finish them later, whenever. As long as they are started you can file for and get AOS. And you don't need a civil surgeon. Is there something more complicated about this than I understand?

they do not have to be "finished" to get AOS, only started.

The vaccination card is useless here in the US. You NEED the DS-3025, it's the same thing but is the only "card" that USCIS will accept for AOS. Period.

When shopping for CSs for AOS, you need to be specific in what you ask for, "I want to know your fee to transcribe my fiance's DS-3025 vaccination record from her medical for the K-1 onto the I-693 form?"

If you ask anything else, they will quote full cost......or only partial cost and hit you up for more at that time.

It is suggested not over-complicate this process or try to do things your own way.....see how that paid off for you regarding the Intent Letters' signatures.....if that is why the RFE was pulled.

But you CAN do whatever you want....but please don't come back here, like you were prior to receiving the RFE and complain about all the time it is taking.....some of which you added onto by your own decision. The process is really not that complicated or mysterious.

  MMR is a perfect example of this... it is a 2 part vaccination but only the first part is needed to be ok for AOS
