Hey guys !

just thought i would come with a little tip for those of you who are doing the "last" trip to the U.S... with that i mean, the trip you do when you have your VISA in hand and you are actually MOVING over there like i am about to do ! :)

For some of you this might not be news at all but for me it was... In booking the flight over there for the actuall MOVE ive been scratching my head about HOW to book the flight... i mean i dont know when i will be going back to my home country again (SWEDEN) seeing how i am actually MOVING to the U.S this time and finally getting married to my love and not just "visiting" for a few weeks and then going back to Sweden.

So ive been wanting to book a ONE WAY ticket this time but they r just so damn expensive.. allmost double in price from a round trip ticket in some cases.. so i thought i would book a ticket that is date changable for the eventual trip back to Sweden.. when ever that will be.. pending on A.O.S process and starting to work in the U.S.. i dont really know when i will be going back...? so i called my airline (Delta) that i have been flying with on my trips to see my Fiancé in the past and asked them about this... a date changable ticket for the trip back was even that a little more expensive.. all tho not much.. but i asked them if i could just book a round trip ticktet and then just NOT fly back when ever the date for the trip back would arrive.. and they said that it was fine as long as i called them ahead of time to let them know that i will not be making that fight back to Sweden :)

So to sum it all up.... no need to book a ONE WAY ticket for allmost 2000 dollars, instead i just had to pay 1000.. and if your like me.. 1000 dollars is a lot of money ! so its good to save it when i can ! :)

P.O.E will be at Pittsburgh international airport on April 1:st !! yaaaay !!!

hope this was some help for anyone :)

Of course you can buy a return ticket and not use the inbound return flight :)

However one important thing to know is that you cannot book a return ticket and try to use only the return flight. For example, you might thinkg of buying a Pittsburg/Stockholm/Pittsburg, because sometimes it might be cheaper than buying a Stockhom/Pittsburg/Stockholm, and want to use the second segment of the trip only. That is NOT possible: if you don't show for the very first segment of your itinerary, the whole ticket is cancelled.

So, not using the return flight on a return ticket is okay, but trying to use only the return flight on a return ticket is not okay.

Also don't forget to cancell the return flight. One couple was denied AOS because the airline showed he left before AOS on the return that he didn't actually take

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

Another tip is when selecting that return segment you will not be using--

Play around with the return dates. That segment influences the price of the round trip ticket. Choose an off day, off-season, terrible flight and your round trip ticket may be cheaper. It doesn't matter how far in advance the return date is. POE isn't going to be looking at your return when you enter on your visa.

I just booked my one way ticket with Delta and it was less than the return flight would have been. Maybe it's different for different countries...hmmmm

You could also submit an application for advance parole, and then travel when you get that. It usually comes before the GC.

Did you fly directly to Pittsburgh? You didn't have to transfer at another US airport?
