Harsh, it has everything to do with where you are from and how much you make. There are low fraud countries (few people overstay) and high fraud countries. The citizens of low fraud countries are generally allowed to travel using the VWP simply because they are low fraud countries. It is also not a very difficult equation that if you make $1,000/day in your home country you are more likely to go back than if you make $1/day. There is a reason why the consulate is asking you to show proof of employment and why they specifically ask how much you make.

I am in no way saying that people from low fraud countries never overstay there visas but they do it less than high fraud countries.

The reason you are getting very low responses are because you are making your situation seem as if it's an entitlement for you because of who you are, and the rest of the world couldn't possible meet your standards.

There are wealthy people and middle class professional people from both the Asian and Africa side of the world who have had their visa applications denied and approved.

BTW how did your spouse become a LPR?

Hanna,

Your chances for visas are high, provided you show the CO all the necessary documents you think proves your ties. Im sure CO would allow you to explain your point of view: provided you have good history of travelling to the US. I would suggest you take your letter of employer, bank statements, payslips to support your argument.

PS: Im from an Asian country, and earn close to $9/day. Im back and striving to make a career here. Hope that helps reduce the stereotype that Asians do not come back.

Thank you Rika60607, your answer was helpful.

Boiler, what ties did you show to your home country? Are you employed full time making decent/good money and did you show that? What is the reason you applied for a B2 instead of traveling under the VWP. We are both from low fraud countries but apart from that you havent explained to me how your case is similar to mine. I appreciate your help.

This was years ago, pre ESTA but after 911.

And I did not know, I was not working full time and was going to spend the 6 month waiting for the K1 in the US.

Being eligible for the VWP and not retired makes it very difficult to get the VWP. Funds was not the issue.

I did subsequently use the VWP.

Thank you Cool Inferno and Boiler. I will bring exactly what you suggested, Cool Inferno.

If everyone was like you Cool Inferno then it would make it a lot easier for other people to visas. If nobody overstayed, I wouldnt even have had to post this topic as no one would have a problem getting a B2.
