Let me carry it for you like I did for my wife and stepdaughter, will hand it to you a second before you have to turn it in. That way you won't lose it.

Well, if you show up at the oath ceremony WITHOUT the card in hand, you have to take instruction from the proctor at the door.

Good Luck !

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

That is one of the questions I have asked my self many times. The other one is what happens if an extraterrestrial space ship hovers above the White House.

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

Louis Farrakhan is visiting when that happens.

Already saw an invisible alien craft hover over the White House, I know it was real because it was invisible. Nothing to be concerned about, they don't do anything anyway, just observe, but losing a green card is. Four hundred bucks out of your pocket, a 450 mile drive if they insist on new finger prints, and up to a one year delay.

Stepdaughter was even dumb or naive enough to walk into a bar/restaurant and leave her jacket on a chair while she used the restroom. One month before her interview. Thief got away with a 150 buck jacket, you can wear a twenty buck jacket, a 30 buck wallet, with her drivers' license in it, a couple of bucks, and a copy of her green card. I made darn sure of the latter, want to get free of that I-864 so would have had to lay out that 400 bucks for a new one. USCIS makes it miserable to get another one, she got another drivers' license the next day for 15 bucks, that came out of her allowance. She got her real green card back just seconds before she had to turn that in. Was really happy to see that cruse get out of my life.

You don't lose your green card or have it stolen. Another concern with my wife are those crazy purses they have to drag around, always kept a watchful eye on that, too easy for someone to grab on. Why can't women wear clothes with a good deep pocket and carry a wallet?

Well, I did need a pipe wrench once, wife had one of those in her purse.

Hey if clothing companies would start actually making said clothes with a good deep pocket, I'd start carrying my wallet/purse there. In reality, women are lucky if they actually even GET a pocket in their clothing, let alone it actually being of a significant size to fit a wallet into.

A lot of my 18 month old's clothes however seem to have at least 6 functional pockets. I guess it must be for all that money and ID that babies/toddlers need to carry around with them.

To keep this on-topic, OP: losing my GC so close to Naturalizing is my secret nightmare, too.

On the bright side, they don't tell you that you must carry your certificate of naturalization with you at all times. That you can lock up in a safe. But does leave you with a complex that you should be carrying some form of proof of being here legally, and for awhile, will feel naked without it.

For a long time in this country, airlines preferred cash over a credit card, use cash now and the FBI is on your butt. And now they even want to see your drivers' license. What do you want to see that for? I am just riding, not driving!
