Called 2go many times since we selected to pick up the visa here in manila. Called the embassy many times just to have them say it has not been printed yet call back next week ecah time.

Anyone else got approved in 2012? How long did it take to get your visa?

That is what they told her on Monday. :wow: I had her a booked flight for March 15, so I just moved it to May 1. Reading some other timelines they seem to be shipped within 2 to 3 weeks. :bonk: Guess it will be warmer by then !

60 days???? It is just printing, for crying out loud... they used to be able to do this in a day in Manila.

They are doing this on purpose. No one is this incompetent. I find this infuriating.

What's more, you have to be on the plane within 4 months of the NOA2, despite what the visa expiration says, or you can be denied at the POE. This happened to a friend of mine when his fiancee was entering Detroit 4 days after the petition expired. The people at the POE don't always understand the rules and know that the visa expiration date is the one that matters. If the printing takes 60 days, then my fiancee may not be able to get on the plane within 4 months of the NOA2 and will have to go back to the embassy to get the I-129F extended (if they'll even do that... it is an odd request when you already have the visa).

I am sure there has been some kind of misunderstanding. I have never heard of 60 days. About 7-10 working days is the norm.

At this point the I-129f is finished, done, kaput! The K-1 visa is the only document in play now. And you have 6 months after its issue to use it ( some have said 6 months after the medical not sure for fact) but my point is the only time requirements are those tied to the K-1 visa... Elvis has left the building in regards to the I-129f

Paul,

It took close to 3 weeks for my fiance's visa to be delivered by 2go to her home. I'm sure it won't be much longer...at least I'm hoping it won't be.

Regards

Hank Is Right. I-129F is out.no need at ths point to concern yourself wth that. the K-1 as Hank says is the only thing in play now. CBP Officers at the POE Should know the rules. I heard some say the K-1 Visa is good 6 months from the date of the medical and I have heard some says from date of issue? Dont really know the Answer about that yet! You should be getting that Visa soon Paul

By George your right I did not even catch that. How would the officers at the POE even know when the NOA2 was issued ?

Because it is in the sealed brown envelope. I just hope no one else encounters any more woefully incompetent POE people like my unfortunate friend did. They were very traumatized. She was interrogated in a small room for 5 hours and not allowed to contact anyone before being deported. She eventually got back here but it of course cost them the plane tickets.

I really hope this "60 days" is wrong. I can't imagine what could happen that would suddenly drastically slow down a printing process that they already had in place for a long time, unless someone just decided "Hey let's not do them as fast".

What happened at POE had nothing* to do with an I-797 and it is not part of a visa process, its only a petition requesting permission to apply for a visa, and - *as long as the visa was applied for while the petition was still valid then all is good. The embassy can extend the processing time at their discretion even.

There was something else going on with your friend...
