Hi VJ, my case was completed last week, but we don't have our interview date appointed, yet.

When will we get some sort of email regarding our appointment for the visa interview? I know it's been only a week, but what's the average time between case completion and getting to know your appointment date?

reg.ula.tion.me.ooow.2011 // tomcat.fight

to do list:
file i-130, petition for alien relative
get immigrant visa
get ssn card and green card
get employment authorization - not required
file I-751, petition to remove the conditions of residence (before 2nd year expires upon entry)
become a US citizen

You should be calling the NVC and asking if your appointment has been booked yet.

Your I-129f was approved in 5 days from your NOA1 date.

Your interview took 67 days from your I-129F NOA1 date.

AOS was approved in 2 months and 8 days without interview.

ROC was approved in 3 months and 2 days without interview.

Yup. I've been doing that since the day it was approved. Still the same answer "we don't have it yet."

I had my case complete on 31 January 2012 and called everyday after that. I was told that they booked appointments during the second full week of the month. I know that they do book appointments in Montreal at other times so I called everyday. Just as they said my interview was scheduled yesterday, the second full week of the month.

Be patient its only a little bit longer until you are done with this whole process! It will be worth it!!

Thanks. That's what they told me, too, that they book appointment during the second week of the month. We're on our second week, hopefully I'll get something, soon. :(

Thanks for the morale boost! :)

The second week business isn't accurate...we got assigned a date on Jan. 31, so the last week of the month, or the first week of Feb. if you want to be generous. The thing that you need to check are other people's timelines from Vietnam because the assignment of interviews is based on when the consulate makes dates available to the NVC, so it varies by country.

Looking at the last 10 people from Vietnam to get interviews, this is the data I found:

-2 days to 1 month from case complete to find out interview date (average ~11 days)

-1 month to 2.5 months from interview date scheduled to actual interview (average 1.5 months)

Now, granted, most of those 10 timelines weren't filled out completely... And either there aren't a lot of VJ members from Vietnam or they just haven't filled in their timelines as there were only 3 interviews so far in 2012. So take the above data lightly.

Thanks. Copy that. But the thing is that I can't find a whole lot of data/examples from Vietnam Vjers.

Saylin, I remember you replied to my other post with a phone number to contact DOS. Do you by any chance have that number? And what role does DOS play in the visa application? What kind of questions/answers that they know and respond to?

Thank you Saylin.

Thank you Saylin.

The DOS number is on the first post of each of the NVC threads.

DOS helps if you want to know if your interview date has been assigned, if the package has been received by the consulate/embassy (once it's shipped out by NVC), any questions related to the interview (AP/AR/denial), if the visa has been issued.
