people tend to vote for those they have a link or connection to, if your brother were a candidate and his views were not completely contrary to your..... most likely each of us would vote for our own brother.... why?

Jackson did the same thing because he feels like Obama is linked to him more than say John McCAIN.

Rarely does our affinity towards our "own kind" trump everything, I doubt Jackson would have voted for Clarence Thomas had he been running.

This affinity voting is so normal and acceptable Obama has a distinct area of his campaign set up to target the Black vote, he even advertised it.

I say it's normal and acceptable except for one group....... Whites.

The very last thing any white person wants to admit too is allowing race to even enter their mind ....when they choose from two similar candidates.

I agree, perhaps because whites are a majority most don't consider race as the factor.

Then again, there are huge swaths of areas in the country where whites are a minority, take my city for example, we just crossed the 50% thresh hold and from here on out ...whites will be a minority.

with voting patterns as they are ... the white vote splits on idealogical lines while the Black candidate will have 90% support among blacks and a nice chunk of whites.

it is doubtful we will ever see a white mayor again.

So in this common example, even when Whites are a minority, the "circle the wagons" mentality never takes root.

Than before he took office. Black unemployment is higher food stamps and other welfare benefits are way up, costs of food and gasoline are way up (conveniently left out of inflation numbers) whch affect lower income people disproportionately...we can continue but start with those.

And Samuel L. Jackson admitted what we all know to be true anyway, so I am glad he did it. When I watch boxing and it's between a black and a white, I always cheer for the white guy, even if I know he has no chance. It's the truth and I don't consider it racist at all compared to not cheering for your football team, because it has a black quarterback would be racist.

I'm not sure where you're getting your definitions from, but racism doesn't necessarily have to be negative. Classing people together based on race is racism. Look it up.
