My I129F petition was just approved for my fiance that lives in Cuba. She does not have a passport. What are the next steps that I need to take? I looked over the guidelines but they didn't mention much about Cuba. Thank you!

She has to have a passport. - hurry and get one.

Are they difficult to get?

No, she just needs to apply for one, the fee is about 55 CUC.Hurry up, you will need it in order to schedule the interview at the embassy.

I suggest you send her to get a passport, also the medical exams sometimes take a long time for results, my suggestion to that is to send her to do her med exams in two months or so from now because your case is very fast and will not take long for her to be here. If she does that ii will be time reduction at the end of her journey. Be advise that the medical exams do expire in 6 months from the date she acquires them but, if she goes to do that like in April or May, she'll be alright and ahead of time, trust me, I've been through this before twice already.

Good luck! Eli.

Is there a form they need to take with them for the medical exam in Cuba? Just curious, because that will be one of the next things in our future as well.

I don't think so, I just brought my daughter from Cuba and the only think the ask for was her Cuban ID ( Carnet de Identindad)so, I really think it should be fine with just that.

Well without the passport you can get her the appt so that will delay your process. Call the Visa Center and at least get her number case..to get the appt you will have to have the number case which starts with HAV and her passport number. As soon as you get that you can get the appt. She will receive a telegram letting her know her case is in the consulate and she needs to go a pick up the forms or your can print them out for her. As soon as you get the appt which hopefully its soon but at least 6-9 months from now. Get the appt set up and then call and make an appt for the medical ( which by the way expires after a year not six months. Get her the appt for 2 months before her interview..giving her enough time to get results and for her to be able to use it here for her Adjustment of Status because if it expires then she will need one here again. Good luck..here to help my husband and I got marry yesterday.

The interview is ready, but there is a problem. She hasn't picked up the package yet. Should I tell her to take a trip to Havana to pick the forms up? Can they mail them to her, or does it it have to be in person? Can she go basically any time she wants to grab it?

Also, she cannot set up the medical without some carta. Is that in the packet too?
