Hi experts,

Last week I got my B1/B2 visa for 10 years. I did not use this visa as yet, but last visited USA in 2010 for attending a conference. Strangely, I got a call from an employer (who interviewed me 2 years back) asked me if I can take up the position. I agreed to take up the position, then he said he will arrange full round of interview. I am planning to attend a conference on my B1 in April this year. This job, if selected will commence from August, do not know when I may have visa appointment as yet. What I should do now? Should I travel to USA for this conference? or just stay in India and get H1 and then travel? If I visit USA for conference and then come back (only 5 days stay in USA) to India, what are my chances of getting H1?

I really do not know much about work visas, so please provide guidance on this.

Thanks in advance,

Keep in mind the earliest time you will be able to start work on H-1 is October unless your employer is cap-exempt. I don't know if you should attend the conference, but so no reason why you wouldn't get H-1 coming to US for 5 days and later returning to India.
