Just a quick question -- traveling internationally with the expired greencard along with the NOA1 is ok, right?

Mr. Sachinky and I are planning a trip to the Dominican Republic in the next month or two -- anyone know if I, as an Indian citizen, will require a tourist visa?

"(1) All legal residents (green card holders) from the United States of America and Canada can enter the Dominican Republic holding travel documents that substitute their passports." Yes it is. Me and my wife took a trip to the Philippines in June and she had an expired green card along with the NOA1 and everything was fine.

HI.THERE.....please! any body can guess that when March Filers will be getting approvals...December or November?

I got the same issue, march fillers, and i am still waiting for Approval, in 2 weeks its gonna be 7 months since i took the biometrics..

I hope we get it soon, because i need to travel Overseas.

Hate to tell you this but Vermont Service Center (which is where you applied) is still processing November 2011 applications. It looks like you will have to wait approximately another 3 months to get approved. Best of luck to you.

Does NOA1 means : I 797 (I 751 Receipt of notice). Is that the document i need to carry when i travel outside US along with my expired PR Card. do i need to carry any other documents. Please let me know. I am planning to go on a month vacation.

Interesting, thanks for the update. How exactly did you come to know this? I only ask b/c people who filed prior to March 16th have not yet been approved, while others who have filed after March 16th have already been approved.

Something really weird happened today.

We received an RFE. However, the petitioner listed is not my wife! We have never heard of this person.

The case number, alien number are all correct. But the petitioner/applicant name is not.

We contacted USCIS immediately. The person informed us that this situation is not uncommon. He instructed us to mail the RFE back to the service center, as well as a cover letter explaining the typographical error.

Anyway, thought you guys may find it unusual/interesting. I suppose it is not an actual RFE, until it addresses the correct person? :lol:

Hurray ... below is the good news. I hope it will not take 30 days.

On September 24, 2012, we ordered production of your new card. Please allow 30 days for your card to be mailed to you. If we need something from you we will contact you. If you move before you receive the card, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283.

I asked the USCIS representative ... for all who are waiting for the green card past regular processing times, please call USCIS toll free number 1-800-375-5283 and open a ticket addressing to your service center. that might help speed up the process.
