Let me try to explain the situation. Applied for K-1 about 3 months ago. We have not received any updates or decision yet. My fiancee is an Italian citizen but has been living in the UK for ~6 years. We filed the petition and specified London as the location for application for the visa.

My fiancee is not working, and her roommate got a new job and is moving. Rather than continue to stay in London, My fiancee would like to return to Italy to stay with her family while waiting for the process to be completed. I called USCIS and spoke to someone who said that we could simply write a letter to USCIS explaining the situation, what needed to be changed (the application location to Naples), and to include the receipt number. She said it would not delay the process.

Did we receive correct information? Has anyone ever had to do this before? I'm going to call again and see if a 2nd person confirms it, and make sure I take down the name of the person who gives me that information this time, to include in the letter.

Thanks for any help!

OK, so I don't know if this is a disaster or not. If anyone has some experience with this please help!

I called USCIS yesterday, they said we likely had 1-2 more months to wait. The person I spoke to instructed me how to write the letter changing the personal information for my fiance and to change the consulate location. I put the letter in the mail that afternoon.

Today, I got the email notification that our application was approved. Tracking number for the letter says it won't be delivered until thursday.

I have no idea what is going to happen. Will the vermont service center be able to make a change in time before it goes to the national visa center? Are we going to have to file I-824 and pay another $405, and increase our wait time even more?

I called them again today, spoke to a teir 2 rep. She sent an email on our behalf to the VSC, and then as we were hanging up told me I should expect a reply Feb 29th. I just have no idea what to do. The teir 2 rep knew next to nothing. She had no idea what the VSC would do, other than likely forward our letter if they had already sent the package off to the national visa center.

Please help!

Call NVC no matter what, they are the ones forwarding it to the right embassy. They also have an email on their website.
