So, we sent our AOS package and IV package together two weeks ago. Now, I'm trying to figure out if NVC received it.

When we call NVC, the automated response says "A packet of information has been generated...". When we talk to the human, one human said wait two weeks and call again. Another human said, "it takes a few days after NVC receives it before it goes into processing. At that time, they will know whether they have it". I can continue to sign in to the payment portal.

The problem is that we had sent it from Europe, and the mail provider here does not have tracking once it leaves Europe. Otherwise, I wouldn't have lost sleep on this for the last week. It has been two weeks now since we mailed the package.

From your experience, how long after your mailed it, before you got some feedback that they got it?

- did the automated response change in a week?

- did the human give you a different status - like "we have received your packet". or "we are processing your packet"

Based on my experience, once it is delivered, then it may take 3-4 days to track in NVC system, and if everything is all right, then it will take few more days to complete the case.

That means if the NVC human does not confirm that they have received it by end of this week, I am in deep ####. I've started the process to get the mail provider here to start an investigation on the package.

Let this be a warning to everyone else who is mailing their IV package - always, always use a service that has tracking and delivery confirmation. Otherwise, you will be in a situation like mine. In limbo faced with the possibility that the package with all originals is lost.

Whenever I send larger packages to the US it takes almost two weeks for them to reach the recipient. Regular small letters go a lot faster (generally 3-4 days). I wouldnt worry, I'm sure they will receive your package. Remember to also give them around a week to process the package after they receive it. I would start to worry if they say after a month from when you sent it that they still didnt receive it. Good luck!

I got it within a week. But it's been slow lately.

reg.ula.tion.me.ooow.2011 // tomcat.fight

to do list:
file i-130, petition for alien relative
get immigrant visa
get ssn card and green card
get employment authorization - not required
file I-751, petition to remove the conditions of residence (before 2nd year expires upon entry)
become a US citizen

:-) Finally, they got it. Well, I don't know when they got it. But they sent me a Case Complete and a Checklist yesterday!

If they had told me when they received it, I could've slept better at night. But since it is good news, I won't complain. The automated service and the ability to talk to a real human to get status updates (even if they are not fully accurate) is really cool, compared to other government services you get, both in the US and in other parts of the world.

Two lessons for others in similar situation:

1. Don't send originals in non-traceable packages.

2. Don't worry if NVC says they haven't gotten it. In my case, they never told me they got it. They told me only once they had finished processing it.
