Changing Name before filling i-751

Recieved my green card thru marriage to my Husband who is a U.S Citizen, My GC expires in FEB,

I would like to get my name changed to his last name.

How do i do this?

I have a German passport would i have to go to the german embassy and change my name on the passport?

if you want your name change, file the 1-175 to remove conditions in your now married name. that way when your approval, you will receive the green card in the married name, this way you don't have to change name with the form 1-90 and pay a fee 450.00. also you don't have to change your passport.you can still traval with your passport but you must purchase the tickets in the passport name,it must match.in another year an a half you will be applying for your us citizenship an get your us passport in your married name,

Well, assuming this person doesn't apply for naturalization (not everyone does!!!), the above poster is right. You don't have to change the name in your passport ASAP, but do make sure that you have matching names on your tickets and passport. Once you get though this green card process, go through the german embassy to find out how to get a new passport and what the process is on changing your name.

I'm the woman, and the USC, so I don't know about getting names changed on your GC. I do know that when I changed my name, I went ahead and got my passport reissued as well. I just filled out a new application and sent in a translated copy of my marriage cert (I got married in Brazil) and 5 weeks later, they sent me a new passport.
