OVERSEAS PETITIONS ARE NOT GETTING APPROVED IN 30DAYS! JUST A LIE!

Is it worth filing a change of address to reflect my actual foreign address? Or will that confuse them/not matter?

I just called the USCIS national center and they told me that I have to call the U.S embassy and register but when I went to the U.S embassy and told them about the petition, they had no idea of what I was talking about. I'm so confused and I don't know if I should go because they always confuse me and waste my time there.

Because I had ask to know which address to use and they told me to use my U.S address because they don't mail overseas.

Was this information given to you over the USCIS information line? If so, then this is another case in point of why that line is often referred to as the misinformation line here on VJ.

Unfortunately, there may not be much else you can do at this point. The only suggestion I have for you is to contact USCIS and request your petition be expedited; there is no guarantee your request will be granted but there is no harm in asking.

No I was given this information by a VJ member. I'm really sad and depressed right now because I was hoping my petition would get approved fast. I don't know what and expedited petition is. I called the USCIS and they told me that I had to call my local embasssy and that they would help me but I didn't send my petition there; it was sent to the Chicago Lockbox. I called the embassy either way but they told me I have to go in person but I went there before the marriage and no one helped. I was so angry at the way they treated me there after renewing my passport that I don't want to even go back until I have to renew my pasport again. But that's besides the point. How can I go about the expedited petition?

How can I go about the expedited petition?

Call USCIS and ask for a Tier II person, once the Tier II person comes on the line, tell them you want to request the processing of your petition be expedited. You should then be told that you will need to submit documentation on the grounds as to why your request should be granted and be instructed on how to submit such documentation. As I said before, there is no guarantee your request will be granted.

OH okay thanks alot. I'm going to call first thing tomorrow morning. I know that their isn't a gurantee but I'm still going to try. I have many reasons I just hope they say yes. I can't believe that little mistake cost me all this. Thanks alot for your help Ryan. One question though. Do I really have to notify the embassy of me residing here even though I'm leaving in May? I lost my passport here in may so I got a 3month one when I left at the end of july for 2 weeks and now its expired again so in may im going to go renew it again but I know I have to pay a fee since I overstayed for 3 months

No, there is no legal requirement for you to do so.

Unfortunately, i'm pretty sure you're right. If you had put your Argentinian address it should have been approved in a matter of weeks. Do let us know what you find out!

Sure I am I am going to call tomorrow and see what I can do. This just put me down so much.

My husband never "registered" with the US consulate here.

I don't have a clue why the USCIS people talked to you about going to the embassy, it has nothing to do with this process :bonk:

Requesting an expedite is your best option now. Good luck!

No I was given this information by a VJ member.

Urgh that sucks. I have been given wrong information by a vj member...several actually...luckily I always confirm any advice given with an official source.

VJ is helpful, but no one here is an expert, just a bunch of people who have knowledge of this process. Don't take anything as factual unless you check it out.

I hope you get this sorted out soon.

Best wishes! :)

True I just went by what he told me because he was of an older age and I thought the older the wiser. I am going to try to fix this tomorrow but I highly doubt that anything can change from this point

I just called the USCIS national center and they told me that I have to call the U.S embassy and register but when I went to the U.S embassy and told them about the petition, they had no idea of what I was talking about. I'm so confused and I don't know if I should go because they always confuse me and waste my time there.

Just in case no one else has mentioned it -

Call back into USCIS, get an ISO, a Tier 2 Human then

go over the location/address thing, mention the faster queue for filing abroad,

and ask if the ISO can do anything to assist you getting in that OTHER queue.

Good Luck !

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

I'm overseas with my spouse and have been for 8 months now and the embassy still wouldn't process my petition so I sent it to the Chicago lockbox and got my NOA1 a month ago today and still no NOA2. I guess my petition fell in with the rest of the petitions.I thought I was going to get my petition approved in as little as 30 days like everyone else who filed from overseas.

i still waiting my noa2 also until now 5mnths already going 2 6mnths sept.filers for I-130 SPOUSAL VISA but still my case status is initial review.but some people wait only 4mnts and their noa2 already recieve.i just hoping and praying that my noa2 wil release as soon as posible.thank you.
