Ghana Passport and Yellow Fever Certificate

Hello all,

I am wondering if anyone who has traveled back to Ghana (or any other country who requires yellow fever certificate) on their Green Card can tell me if you are traveling on your Ghana Passport if you are required to show a Yellow Fever Certificate.

I assume once a Ghana national naturalizes in the USA and travels on a USA passport they are required to get it but what if they are still on their Ghana passport?

When we went in 2010 my husband did not have to show one.

I've never been asked for one either.

I always get asked for mine, almost got denied re-entry after a day trip to Togo! lol

I wont worry till he is a citizen I guess! Thanks for the information.

I usually keep mine inside my passport, I do not think anyone has looked at it ever.

Hi I just returned this past Saturday from Ghana. I only went for 4 days :/ but at least we got to meet in person. Since the Ghana Consulate website said I would need a yellow fever certificate, I did get one. When I was going through at the ACC airport, the women helping me was about to slide the card out of my passport but got distracted by another worker and never did look. I think it is a good idea to get it as I imagine it would be trouble if you didn't have it and they did check. Also, remember to get it at least 10 days before your scheduled visit.

Also, I didn't realize it but I should have been taking medicine for Malaria (before, during and after your trip). Well thankfully I didn't get any mesquito bites so I hope I am safe.
