Hello,

I live in the US and my fiance lives in the Philippines. I filed the I-129F form along with the 325G and all requested items about 3 months ago. Soon after filing, I did receive the 797 form, which seemed like basically a receipt. Since then, I have heard nothing. I realize that I am anxious for my girl to get here, but this seems like a long time. Is this normal? Is there some way for me to check on the status?

thanks

If you check the timelines you'll see that most people who are getting their petitions processed filed them before you did. You haven't indicated which service center your petition was sent to, but if it went to Vermont you may have another month or so, if California you might have another 2 months.

There are a lot of foks enduring the wait with you. I come in here often to see how long they are taking and get encouragement from their visas being processed. You have a bit longer but we are all in that boat with you.

Welcome to VisaJourney :)

As everyone mentioned it can take a few more months. The average is 5 to 6 months from the initial mailing providing there has been not RFE or other issues.

The 797 form you received is what we call here the "first notice of action" or NOA1. On the bottom left of that notice, you can see at which service center your petition has been transferred (California or Vermont). With these infos, you can fill up your timeline on VJ: on the top right of VJ pages, click on your name, and then choose "My timeline (Add/Edit)". Complete it with your I-129F sent date, NOA1 date, right service center. You will then have an estimation of when you can expect your NOA2 compared to data from other VJ members. This will at least give you an idea, it can be wrong and you can receive your NOA2 sooner or later than the estimated range dates. But at least, you will see that no NOA2 after 3 months is not an uncommon situation. :)

You can also check your status on the USCIS website, http://www.uscis.gov/, and enter your receipt number on the left of the homepage (starting with EAC or WAC on your NOA1). It may not work, a lot of people are not able to check their status on the website, in that case, don't worry. If it works, your status should be as "initial review" right now.

Yes, along the left hand side of the document is a receipt number. You can go to the USCIS.gov website that's listed on the 797 form and enter the receipt number to see where you are in status. I wouldn't worry about not having heard from them since receiving the 797, though. You won't hear anything until you've been approved in the NOA1 and your case moves to NOA2. That's completely normal. I don't know what office you've filed your I-129F through, but CA and VT are taking roughly 5 months to process NOA1 on average right now. Best of luck.

We've been waiting singe filing in the first week of July. Still no interview. Still no medical. Still waiting.

I suggest you kill the time by making a nice piece of jewelry for your beloved: Romantic thing to make while waiting on USCIS.

If you start it on Valentine's Day, you could win points that you could cash in later.

I know the waiting is a killer. Hang in there.
