How to go about it - my husband can translate and attest to the accuracy but I want to know the format to use

Do you take a copy of the original and over the words translate what it says

OR

Do you just type out everything on word pad.

I would think it would be easier to make a copy and then translate above it however I am so uncertain and I sure do not want a RFE. Sorry for such a noobish question.

You need the original too. For the translation, you make a new document that looks similar to the original - in look, spacing, etc.

AOS for my husband

ROC:

There are 2 styles: one is a translation that looks similar to the original, both in format and form; and the other is a more "textual" one in that it does not have to follow the exact format of the original but follows the form that is, sequence of the sections and in this case, sequence is left to right and top to bottom (talking here about languages with roman/latin characters even when they include a few extra ones as in Polish, Swedish, German, etc; where norske is included); in both things like seals, stamps, signatures are noted with text.

Either will do. I've done a lot of translations for immigration purposes (both for my use and others; though is not my line of work, strictly pro-bono) and in my experience, both are accepted and had never had an issue. One thing to note is that the translated document should have a paragraph at end noting that the translator is fluent in both languages and that makes it official.

Good luck
