It all depends on what your interests are.... the medical field is ripe with opportunities no matter where you live in the US so you may want to explore all the different medical professions and occupations as a start.

I would love to go in the medical field, but it's so long and expensive to study... :(

As Andrea y Arturo says, it depends on your interests, background, and aptitude.

Saying that, if you have the aptitude for it - look at chemistry, engineering etc. Energy (both dirty and renewable) is the boom sector in Colorado.

Stay well clear of anything connected with tourism. The state already has far too many graduates looking for tourism related jobs.

Thats not true you can become a phlebotomist in about 6 months.

You can study and be an Xray tech or ultrasound tech in 1-2 years.

There are medical transcription programs that are 1 year that let you work in a doctors office or at home.

I had an opening for a young hottie with homesteader/wilderness skills and exotic dancing ability. But it's been filled.

If you have a degree or are going to get one there is a college placement council survey that has been done for many years that shows starting salaries, number of openings, and trend for every degree and according to previous experience. When I was a professor you had to subscribe to it, but just about every university or college with a placement department subscribed, so you can just go there and ask them for it.

The US labor department shows a tremendous amount of information by census region for salaries: mean, median, top quartile and bottom quartile, etc. You can google that.
