So trying to prepare everything well in advance and went onto the Montreal US Consulate website. On the appointment checklist for the fiances visa, it is asking for the following forms - Evidence of Support (I-864,I-864,I-864EZ, I-864W) - no where does it list the I-134. Is this some new form for the evidence of support? And if so, do all of these have to be provided? My fiancee has his own business - what will he have to provide besides bank statements and tax returns?

Does Montreal require both Birth Certificates? Mine (beneficiary) His (petitioner)?

He is divorced and I know that the divorce decree is required but do they need his marriage certificate as well?

What is the biographic page of the passport? What is english translation? Do they need his passport and biographic page as well?

Do I have to go to the social security office to obtain my EAD? Is there a cost involved for that? If so, how much?

What is the AP? Is this for advanced parole? I keep seeing AP, EAD mentioned in the same sentance on alot of post and am asking for clarification

Some clarification can be found on this link VJ Abbreviations & Acronyms

I feel the same way sometimes. Follow advice from others filing in Montreal. They've been there, done that.

(I'm in Vancouver doing the same, with West Coast advice).

Hope it's of some help.

Good luck!

I found really confusing too. But it DOES say on the website link.

My question is how to answer Part I, if they are asking if you are sponsoring your relative... What should we say if we are applying for k1 and using the AOs form? Can we put "fiancee" right after relative? Help!

I think that Montreal has again (this week) updated the P3 checklist so this point may now be moot, but I did get a response back from them via email, so I thought I should post. I asked whether it was the I-864 or I-134 that was needed for the K1 visa.

---

Me: I have been gathering documentation in preparation for my interview for a K1 visa at the Montreal consulate. Up until 10 days ago, the required Support documentation was listed as the I-134, but now the checklist for the interview (in the Packet 3 documentation) lists the I-864, I-864A, I-864EZ, or I-864W. Could you please confirm that the I-134 is no longer acceptable for the K1 visa process and that the I-864 is what is now required?

Response:

We thank you for your message. Please kindly be informed that the Affidavit of Support applicable to your visa category is the I-134. We hope this information is helpful to you.

----

Hope that helps.

While researching forms, etc on the Montreal website I found this....and the website was updated Feb 10, 2012.....

http://montreal.usconsulate.gov/visas/visas/fianc-k-1-visas/steps.html

then click on

Step 2: The U.S. Consulate General in Montreal will send you Packet 3 instructions letter (254KB PDF).

This is the most to up to date forms I have found. This is a two paged PDF document

FYI: The outdated site

http://montreal.usconsulate.gov/visas/visas/fianc-k-1-visas/appointment-checklist.html

is still up and running.

Hope this helps anyone new to VJ or is in the packet 3 process.

It appears you now submit DS 230 part one with packet 3 and bring DS 230 part two to the interview? I think the reason they specify that is because you sign DS 230 part two at the interview in front of an officer (don't sign it beforehand.) I filled out both parts (but didn't sign) and sent them along with packet 3. I suspect that's still the correct procedure, maybe people were the DS 230 and then mailing it off so that's why they specify that. I brought extra copies of all the forms from packet 3 on the day of my interview just in case anyways.

Edit: upon reading the website Montreal only wants part I of the DS 230 with packet 3. The interview checklist includes DS 230 part II, so you bring that with you on the day of your interview.

I included both part 1 and 2 with my packet 3. For my interview, I am taking all original documents in 1 binder and copies of everything I sent in another binder. Better safe than sorry is what I say.
