Are you sure?

Of course it's hard to prove a negative.

The scientist couldn't even agree that there were atomic detonations.

If there was an explosion it was probably Nauru .

Everyone knows they are a war like people bent on world domination

I don't know why everyone is always picking on Israel and South Africa

The authors of this paper included a Harvard Ph.D. in physics (Mansfield) and a lieutenant colonel (Hawkins) who had recently joined DIA as head of the Nuclear Energy Division's Nuclear Weapons Branch. The authors noted much of the search for corroborating evidence of a nuclear detonation on September 22 had failed, and that while there were a number of signals that might be considered as corroborating evidence, those signals were weak, embedded in noise, or represented a phenomenon that was not well understood.

Among the topics they examined were the absence of detected radioactivity, the traveling ionospheric disturbance, and the possibility that one or more micrometeoroids caused the Vela signal. They proceeded to offer an explanation of how radioactivity might not have been detected despite a detonation, calculated that the probability of northward ionospheric disturbance occurring at the same as the Vela event was extremely low (not more than 0.02), and concluded, based on the calculation of Stanford Research Institute scientists (see Document 5), that the probability of a single meteoroid causing the Vela signal was less than one in one hundred billion.

Blood diamonds and Apartheid: Some crimes against humanity can't simply be washed away with time.

Israel and South Africa's apartheid regimes had close ties, and many joint ventures, from small arm manufacture and development, to manipulating the diamond market, and apparently, some interest in Nuclear, Chemical, and Biological weapons.

the probability of a single meteoroid causing the Vela signal was less than one in one hundred billion.

Sorta makes the cover story a bit unlikely, doesn't it? It wasn't really a big secret at the time.

US policy toward Israel made a 180 degree change in direction shortly thereafter, as did the beginnings of serious reforms in South Africa.

yet the firebombing of japan (more killed than by both atom bombs combined) and dresden, germany are hardly mentioned nowadays....

Yeah, the US can't wear white to weddings any more either.

We also still use landmines, area denial weapons, and reserve the right to use nukes as a first use weapon.

One was payback for Peal Harbor and the other was a payback for the bombing of Coventry. For what Germany and Japan did in that war, both of them are lucky we didn't exterminate them off the face of the planet. Both were barbaric criminals.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

Then, we must be barbaric criminals, too.

We probably should have aimed strictly for military targets. I'm sure if we tried hard enough we could have stretched that war out another five years.

The US effort in the European/North African Theater didn't last that long, a little over three years total, and less than a year as far as the ground campaign from D-Day to VE-Day.

And what does that have to do with the price of rice in China?

war crimes also include firebombing entire cities to ashes, same for nuking civilians.

but the winners hold war crime trials, not the losers, so quite a few US generals were never tried (like general le may).

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Curtis_LeMay

Precise figures are not available, but the fire-bombing campaign against Japan, directed by LeMay between March 1945 and the Japanese surrender in August 1945, may have killed more than 500,000 Japanese civilians and left 5 million homeless.[10]

the fire-bombing of Tokyo on March 9–10, 1945......In a three-hour period, the main bombing force dropped 1,665 tons of incendiary bombs, killing some 100,000 civilians, destroying 250,000 buildings and incinerating 16 square miles (41 km2) of the city. Aircrews at the tail end of the bomber stream reported that the stench of burned human flesh permeated the aircraft over the target.[9]

Are you living in China now? Have another stale Budweiser.

Are you saying the US should have been in the war longer? Maybe we should have had more POW's tortured by the Japs? Ask any old Fillipino that was around then how the Japs treated them. Cutting out babies from pregnant women with a bayonet in front of a large home audience was a Jap favorite. It was about as humane as when they chopped the heads off of captured Aussie soldiers.
