degrees online are a good way to go for some professions. I work for a major semi-conductor corporation and have gone out on hiring interviews. ""Dependent"" on your major, there are companies that consider online degrees as good as the traditional in house collegiate classes. College Accredation is something to look at, ie: what percentages of your credits attained are transferrable to a mainstream college. I dont say "all" online universities are good,so you will have to decide whats best for you. Theres also specalty colleges that train for specific jobs and not all of them are good either. I would base selection of which college you will go to, dependent on their post placement success rate. Always liking what you do for a living helps make the long days more bearable

Online is risky. Are you looking at a degree, trade, or just learn something?

Since you are just starting out, might not get any traction with an online degree.

Online programs usually come with more work because no students to slow down the class. Everything is according to the syllabus.

I don't like them because they feel like a self study course.

Alla received a Masters degree in English from a university here and 2 or 3 of her classes were "online" classes. I do not know anyone that did their entire degree online but most colleges now are doing at least some courses online for any degree. She said they were difficult classes none the less, though they do offer some more flexibility. She even took one while we were visiting in Ukraine but said that was a BIG mistake, it took far too much of her vacation time.

Avoid online for-profit universities at all costs. If you want to take online courses, look for good accredited state universities or reputable private universities. Avoid ones like Devry, Phoenix, ITT, etc because they charge too much and a lot of employers do not recognize degrees from there.

Phoenix and DeVry are good if you're lucky enough to work

for a corporation that offers tuition reimbursement.

I used to work for Verizon, and knew a co-worker who

got her MBA from Phoenix in a 2 year accelerated program

whilst working full time. Completely paid for.

Hi,

I just finished my second-masters last month through one of the state universities in california which offers e-learning. i would say that's one of the best thing i've ever done in my life. i did it for 15 months. currently, i'm working full-time in an anti-virus company and i'm not really in a hurry to find another job as i love my current job now. despite that it's an intensive course and i'm working at the same time, i was an A student. i think if you're hardworking, determined and you really look for an e-learning accredited institution you'll be ok to take up e-learning programs. there's nothing to worry about.
