had a bad discussion today with my fiance, and he sayed he doesnt want to have a shared accoutn once we are married, he had it with his ex wife, and made bad experiance.. well, from then we went on..... i sayed, well, coz u made a bad experience with her, u think everybody is the same?i sayed that that means for me, he doesnt trust me. he denied it. he sayed it has nothign to do with trust. i asked him , with what it has to do then? everything starts with money... i trusted him so much, and i told him this, that i gave him some 5000 $ to keep for me.. i trust him that much, that i will make a bank transfer to his account of a high amount, coz i cant yet open a account.... he still sayed it has nothing to do with trust.. he trust me.. well... what reason then.... of course he doesnt... i told him,i dont want any of ur money, i just want u to trust me and to show me this... well, hes mother is still on his account and shares it, coz he had to go away for a year to irak.. so that she could pay the bills.. fine and good.. but, no doubt, he trusted her.... but not his future wife.. it sucks, its dissapointing, and whatever we do, its in my brain now... we dont talk to eachother for a couple of hours.. guess he is angry... but why? coz he is aware about that he doesnt really trust me??? he got anoyed, why? coz he knows am right? i sayed, if u marry, u have to trust eachother fully.... well, what u guys think?

I agree you need to fully trust each other and you can't drag the garbage from past relationships into a new one. My fiance and I intend to open a joint account as soon as possible. My ex screwed me for $20,000 and I have no issues having a joint account because it's not my fiances fault that my ex was a jerk and its not my fault either. Life goes on, its only money and I'm thankful I didn't lose alot more.

Sounds like your man needs to get his priorities straight. If he is going to refer back to all the bad things his ex did to him then he is not ready to share his life with you. He needs to get over the past and move on. Now if he had another reason that he didn't want to share the account well then you can discuss that. However the only reason I see is his ex and that is BS! :star: Good luck

I'll tell you what couples 'normally' do when you show me a normal couple.

I agree with you Arijit bhai. You (original poster) need to do whatever is right for you. Talk to him about it some more and work this out. You will get advice on here about what other couples do then you will compare it to your own relationship and it will get you no where. Your feelings are totally valid but you have to communicate with him some more. Don't look at it as the end just yet...

If your fiance is all wound up about it, insist on separate accounts. 1 personal for him, 1 personal for you, 1 joint, and have each of you run some "mad" money through your own accounts.....and the joint bills through the joint account. Eventually it will become silly to have the three....but if it provides him the security he feels he needs, it's a minor thing.

 Although that's easier said than done, still something to aspire to.

I honestly don't see what the big deal with having a joint account is if you all can come up with a way to split the household bills fine. My husband and I both have seperate accounts, discussed who would pay for what, and it works great for us.

I agree with Gary. Read the guides for Adjustment of Status. You will need to prove an ongoing and genuine marriage. USCIS will want to see your names on joint bank accounts, titles, mortgages, leases, utility bills etc.

My fiance is still a little guarded when it comes to finances. I wouldn't take it personally or tackle it aggressively. Let him come around in his own time (or USCIS's time!).

Shared accounts is one of the things they look for when you do the AOS. It's something else to take into account.

They didnt even look at our bank papers, just our Identification and rental agreement! as far as the joint account dont worry to much about it, he is just still a little leary frm past experience I think about what happened with his ex. Give it some time!
