Are tattoos a huge concern for interview?!

My fiance has his interview on Tuesday, and he's very concerned about how judge mental they're going to be towards him, because he has a lot of visible tattoos. He has the left side of his neck (medusa), and the entirety of both his hands and fingers as far as the ones that he cant cover up go. His hands are just of red and blue flowers, the right with an anchor and the left with a life saver ring thing and it says "sink" on one hand and "or swim" on the other. His upper knuckles say "Have Hope" and his lower ones say "overcome". He has his arms and legs done also, but they're obviously going to be covered up. It's nothing offensive, he and I are just both wondering how the officers react to someone who looks like him.

Does anyone have any information about how tattoos would affect this, if at all?

That is not entirely true, if the tattoos can be associated with any gangs or associated with any violent groups he can be denied.

If the tattoos are only to be considered "body art" then he should not have any problem.

As long as they're not gang-related or he has teardrops tatooed under his eye, I wouldn't worry too much about it. It's after all a common thing today.

People do make judgement based on appearance so it's a good question! I dressed nicely for my interview for that very reason.

I shouldn't think it'd be a problem, as with all of us, he should just be cordial to the officers, have his documents in order and make sure he doesn't take anything he's not supposed to. The only people I would think would be an issue might be security at the front door, they didn't seem to be overtly friendly

Thank you all. I'm not too worried about it, I just know some people have problems with the way people look and I didn't want him to be in a situation he wasn't prepared for. It is getting more common, it's just that tattoos can sometimes get in the way of looking "professional". No regrets though! Thank you again!

Both me and my husband are what you would consider heavily tattooed. Although we don't yet have neck and hands done, the rest of the body is covered. We had no issue during any part of the process so far (am going through ROC right now) and we are both employed with respectable jobs, basically used the same logic we would have for a job interview. Tried to look presentable haha and didn't act like complete #######-holes!
